Also never engage the enemy in open areas, lure them to you. You won't dodge bullets, but speed can be fun if you play smart & use the environment to your advantage.
There is dodging bullets matrix style like people claimed happened in DUST....
Or there is what most of us running capture cards found out... We where missing.. and shooting to the side of them.. When a scout was out moving your personal tracking and aim correction speed it was skill Not game abuse.
Everyone that said the good scouts abused server updates in speed tanking scouts. Just couldnt come to terms that their personal Aim wasn't upto par...
The people who accepted they needed to improve their AIM had no issue with fast moving scouts...The Opposite in fact we LOVED the appearance of fast moving scouts as it tested our Aiming ability to its max. And if they got to close before we eliminated them we failed... If they flanked us then our situational awareness wasn't upto snuff..
For CoD players on DUST? Hell no, why should someone move faster then you and put you at an aiming disadvantage? If you can't aim and hit them then there must be something wrong with YOUR game CCP

all i want to do is run around with kin cats and damage mods but because my suit has 300hp it drops instantly. it doesn't matter how fast you're running when somebody doesn't have to aim to kill you.
I also have a militia suit with under 200hp, why does this exist? seriously CCP somebody is going to use this suit, go up against what I was going up against and because they don't understand the game as a new player, they'll quit as they'll think that's all that is available to them.
It's a pretty good feeling when you kill adv and even proto suits with the militia guy but normally you die before you can get anywhere. How can you flank and be stealthy in a fast suit if you're being scanned?
you have to be right up in their face but they will get you in open ground or kill you before you come round the corner.
CCP if you want to make a game with variety then make all classes and loadouts usable! Right now if you don't have a god damned rail or combat rifle there's no point in playing!
What's the point of having all this stuff in the game if you can only use 10% of it? The TTK is still a huge issue, I'm seeing a lot of people putting up 50+ kills with the rail rifle because MLT fits don't stand a CHANCE, regardless of how good that person is in an FPS game they will get destroyed simply because the gun shooting at them is more effective at range and does a ridiculous amount of damage.
The rail rifle may get nerfed but it's not going to change the fact that you don't have to aim for your shots to do damage, either the rounds are too big or it's the overall hit detection I don't know but the rail rifle is the easiest weapon in the game to use and it makes using my favourite suits POINTLESS.
Hell I ran out of dropsuits yesterday because my militia suit dies in half a second to the rail rifle, so I should use a better suit right? THEN WHY ARE MILITIA SUITS IN THE GAME? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ...... (30 min latter )....o god my sides ...anyways yes speed tanking is dead because it was not meant to be alive in the 1st place HD was off so players took to it thinking it was apart of the game when its not. if your a scout then you do what a scout do,s hide and keep out of view of the other team as you lay down up links and take out 1 or 2 small man groups and hack points and scan and be a look out for your team. your not a battle tank your not a superman drop suit your a SCOUT !!! AKA ((a soldier or other person sent out ahead of a main force so as to gather information about the enemy's position, strength, or movements.))
I Never had a problem tracking the fastest scouts in the game... And hitting them consistently... From Annie Oakley to Calamity in Chromosome(Before they went cal Logi)... To Radar, Sha Karn Clone, Lightning xVx and Exmaple in Uprising 1.0-1.3... People saying that scouts magically broke HD anymore then was already present in the game is silly.
If you turned on your capture card and went back to the footage you'll notice your crosshairs where off on these scouts.. It made me take a step back and work more on my aiming ability in DUST. Then you had one scout going different speed to the next scout and getting your mind and muscle memory used to the constant adjustment in speed and tracking from one target to the next... was the moment to moment personal skill challenges that made DUST 514 a magical addictive game. |

Texs Red wrote:Bones McGavins wrote:Speed tanking was silly. Shotgunners shouldn't be able to run out into the open and have 5 people be unable to hit them. I saw Annie Oakley do this a ton. If a game makes it so hard to shoot so done that an entire squad fails to do so while they run I. The open, that's not a fun game. I say this as someone who started scout, switches to min assault during the scout dark ages, and am back to scout. I appreciate speed. But for flanking and moving to cover. Not for dancing while nobody could hit me. This, this right here. Speed tanking should not be a thing for this exact reason, I remember those days and it was absolutely infuriating. Speed, like profile dampening, should not replace the need for a real tank but should compliment it instead. Tank = shield and/or armor. Tanks come in two kinds, regenerative tanking (Minmatar/Gallente) or buffer tanking (Caldari/Amarr). Caldari need better base shield on their suits and Minmatar need the best shield regen rates. Yes, it does exist to a degree in EVE. However it is more of a damage mitigator than a primary tank, and should it be the primary tank you are usually not there to deal damage but instead are applying some kind of EWAR. Are there exceptions? Yes, but generally that has been my experience.
Didn't happen in squads I was running in, in chromosome? Did you miss more shots then on a heavy trying to kill them? hell yea.. But they had ALOT less health... If they where out moving your personal aiming ability to track that was something you had to look inside on...
Because Annie and Calamity was competitive with an Assault, a Heavy and other scouts.. From the days when DUST was at the Most fun it's ever been.
And if your talking about Uprising they ran caldari logistic and minmatar suits... So invalid...
Speed tanking doesnt exist to a degree in EVE? wtf? lol that is the Vaga, Cynabal, Vigilant(fitted proper) Macherial.. I can go on foreever these are how these ships are fitted successfully in EVE for PVP. sooo?? wtf .. |

And if they got to close before we eliminated them we failed... If they flanked us then our situational awareness wasn't upto snuff..] No one had a problem with fast scouts. People had a problem with them magically taking no damage. Hit Detection was directly related to speed of movement. My favorite example was having someone running right at me across a catwalk and taking no damage until he got in shotgun range. I even perfectly cooked a flux. When a person is punished for having tactical control then something is fundamentally wrong with the game. Now that Hit Detection is working better bring on the faster scouts. Although re-reading the above it sounds more like sour grapes on his part. Their FPS failed and it's easier to blame others than take responsibility.
Your delusional if you think Hit detection is better now then Chromosome... AND BOTH version this and that are massively laggy...
I think your missing the history of what happened with RO2... After being pushed hard by testers and general community and what the game turned into after...
gamespot wrote:Well, it's been year and a half and player counts are around 150 during peak, and maybe 50 during off peak over here in the US. With one of the worst launches I have ever seen, with a game marketed to the community as an updated RO1, but turned out to be a COD/BF clone. Tripwire completely screwed the pooch. Most of the major bugs are gone and the game now is pretty playable. Tanks are still very very broken. Armor doesn't work right, Machinegunner AI is set to autoaim hax. the laggy servers, and in general broken still.
On a good note is that a new map is coming out for free, plus the classic mode which brings the game back into line with what RO1 was. Meaning RO2 now plays like it should. A better looking natural progression of RO1. Not the complete departure into COD/BF land that it is now. Hopefully Tripwire will be smart enough to do a free week or two at the same time as Classic mode release

The idea of thinking you should be able to speed tank is a joke. Stealth works, and speed helps with stealth.
In a pub? sure... You can make a PLC perform in a pub with 30-40 kills 1-2 deaths... in a competitive environment? Your as obsolete as a Cassette player...
If your moving at over 11 meters a second..... Who RIGHT now? could track that? I watch the marksman shows and competitions... That is no easy feat to do with any consistency...
So if you think someone that has the ability to move extremely fast SHOULD NOT BE HARD TO Aim at and hit?.... then you guys are stroking your own ego's and not coming to terms that you never could aim. And the challenge of having to aim yourself was such a terrible ordeal for you we are hearing about it 8 months later...
Seriously no one had trouble hitting the best scouts in the game in Chromosome and Uprising... They where competitive.. They got me I got them...
Now they are only competitive in DUST in the hands of extremely talented individuals that break what the scout was even for in fitting it to make it work.
And alas we have lost the hard counter between the slow moving easy to hit tank(heavy HMG) And the glass cannon fast moving low HP hard to hit scout. This was what balance was in DUST... Every player has different skills, modules, suits, races... There should be aiming challenge from each individual player as everyone of them will move different... and challenge you from the moment to moment. THIS IS WHAT MADE DUST FUN. |
