Hello forums.
So today I want to talk about frame rate. We all know on certain maps the frame rate can be less than desirable. Especially on the gorgeous indoor complex maps. I do hope CCP has plans to optimise them and get us to a place where we have a good solid 25-30 FPS.
My issue and the problem at hand is that in situations when the frame rate starts to drop - it is apparent that burst fire weapons such as the Combat Rifle - lose a lot of their RoF due to low frame rate.
This has affected me where as someone with a full auto rifle is not affected to anywhere near the same level. This obviously makes using burst weapons in the "known" low frame rate maps a bad call.
What are your thoughts? Has anyone else come across this? (By the way this is common in many video games. The same thing has happened in other online games) |

Considering that the Combat Rifle is a light HMG for the most part, I don't care.
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

This is not about a question of balance (I too think most of the rifles are actually OP and I 'HOPE' CCP will balance them all once 1.8 drops) however this is about making the game work properly.

Confirming that frame rate directly affects the combat rifle ROF.
When the frame rate goes down, the CR goes from firing burst quickly in succession into a slow-mo like fire rate. Which forces me to struggle to find the new sweet spot for my trigger input timing.
The PC and SL should fit into the Sidearm slot so it's accessible and practical to carry one.

Personal vendettas and negative feelings have nothing to do with how the game performs. You should care.

You guys do understand that its probably an illusion right? There are not any detrimental effects other than a slow framerate.
The RoF of the Combat Rifle exceeds the frame rate of the game at many points. The same thing doesn't happen to the HMG because it uses a simple animation where it is either firing or not firing, while the Combat Rifle has a separate sound and animation for each round fired. This causes the animations some rounds to dissapear between frames, creating the illusion of a lower RoF.
A simple fix would be to make an animation for each CR burst, rather than having an animation for each fired round. Or alternatively, Lower the Combat Rifle's ROF to 1000, the level of the SMG, a weapon that doesn't suffer the same RoF issues. The second option would come with a corresponding damage increase of course.
Totally not Fizzer94's forum alt. Definitely just a random dude.
