Has anyone else come across this unconventional tactic? Place an RE on your own drop uplink so when an enemy tries to destroy the uplink they ended up shooting the RE instead and get blown up. I fell victim to this tactic and was ******* blown away. Goddamn genius.
Any other unconventional tactics anyone's come across(besides strapping RE's to an LAV or Dropship)?

Its preferable to place the RE under the uplink otherwise they might see it.
Back when RDVs deployed pretty much wherever you called it I practised using them like a time bomb, run through a bunch of reds, call in a BPO lav, stand back and wait. Watch a few get squashed, jump in and murder taxi for a bit. |

I've haven't been victim to this in a LONG time (like 3 or 4 updates ago)....but yea it's pretty ingenious.

I've seen this quite a few times, but I don't think I've ever died from it... which is weird, as most of the uplinks I destroy are pretty darned close.

If i'm redlined I flank running along the redline minimizing my chances of being spotted. If I know tanks are nearby I call in a LAV to draw the tanks fire and it gives away there position. What else, oh, instead of throwing a grenade directly at a red if i'm near a wall i'll bounce in off the wall instead.

Been putting them unders nano hives and uplinks since beta, I used to also call in a free lav an park it on remotes, especially when murder taxis were ftom. But I prefer putting them on enemy uplinks. |

Why anyone would stand directly over a drop uplink any way is beyond be. Why risk someone spawning on you pointblank while you're looking at the ground? Always grenade links, if you're able. If not, just shoot them from a distance.
(Pro Tip: Cloaked/Invisible newly spawned enemies will still turn your crosshairs red, though they're still invincible for a second or two)

I always flux uplinks from a distance as I never trust them. I notice that a lot of people place RE's on enemy uplinks to take it out(and get a kill) as soon as they see someone spawn in.

Well, once When trying to kill a pilot who called in an ADS, ran round the damn thing trying to kill each other for like 10secs until I realised they could just hop in - so i placed REs on It - watching it go straight up and pretty much straight back down again was very satisfying.

Does the job without risk of a RE death, plus instead of staring at your feet when a scrub spawns in you're laughing your arse off as they get OHKed. |

Have to admit, while I normally would use a flux - if have a SMG or shotgun equipped I might use those..which is pretty careless considering I myself mine uplinks...but I need to save fluxes for null cannon consoles!

I just love it when I get a random +50 in the middle of match, because a red took his AR to one of my droplinks! Yeah, I have a suit specifically fitted with droplinks and REs

I've seen it often, but I have yet to be killed by this. Either I'm always standing far enough away with my SMG when I pop the uplink, or the uplink is absorbing the splash from the RE.
I'm pleasantly surprised to see that this actually gets some people, I always thought it was a waste of a good RE.

AhGǪ the trap I don't use it often, I have many other uses for my RE I recommend using Proxy mines for this, and chain them out in the blast radius a bit, you can get those sods who don't stand directly on it to shot it, and also sometimes net multiple kills as some folk congregate around uplinks to shoot them for some reason. Also if you have switched out to an RE suit after you can use your RE without taking the trap out of your bait.
