I miss the days when a MLT tank was literally just something to get your feet wet in tanking. You had crappy modules, no fitting to speak of, and even at high SP, they were no match for a real tank. When I saw those, I felt like "Yup, someone's just starting to learn their tanking. as long as they weren't harrassing my team/me too much, I'd just let them **** around and figure out the controls.
Now? they're 90% as efficient as a real tank for no SP investment. Was someone at CCP smoking crack when they decided on this? The only things that are stronger on real tanks are the cooldown speeds, and raw HP(which, thanks to ludicrously high damage, means effectively nothing)
CCP, in order to fix the MLTspam problem with tanks, just make them like they used to be: Crippled. they were the one legged man in an ass-kicking contest. they could get all of one good hit in, but then they were basically scrap metal.

There is no downside to MLT HAV as a rule of thumb, especially since they can be kit out ot deliver max fire power with lower shields and armour to bust superior ISK and SP HAV.
technically correct, I'm only 8mil into tanks, mostly shield before I realized that they completely removed the shields ability to stay in a fight(I had 40% passive resist to everything! damnit!) I miss my passive hardeners.
I would have no problem if I was being defeated by superior tactics or play, but at this point its become "spam MLT tanks until they get overwhelmed"
and even then, I just put on my scout suit and teach them the meaning of remote explosives. stick 'em on a weakpoint and /lol when their faketank turns into a fine mist.
and there is a test server, it's used by CCP only, so they will never see the kinds of things players will do when they give us something.

Sadly, there isn't really much of an incentive to max anything other than Turret Skills and the skills that increase your Uptime for modules.
this is new eden. SP and gear> skill, to a point. A moron undocking in an unfit titan will get stomped to death by a fleet of frigates, but that same titan in the hands of someone who knows how to kit it out, and fly it, is damn near unassailable.
CCP should realize this, they're already making the suits fit the new eden style(you get bonuses to your racial thing, not a blanket bonus to HP or self reps or other crap like that)
Make the vehicles like that too. I want to see a tank be an actual asset to a fight, something that when it's on the field, you know it's there and you either want to avoid it completely, drive it off, or destroy it. I want to see a more complex answer to a good tank than "spam railtanks until he runs out of ammo to kill us with!"
I want(in a couple years time, I'm guessing) to see battles fought and won/lost on who had the better integration of forces, not just by who can glitch or abuse the OP the best. I want to see fights that rove across a sprawling map, fighters in the sky duking it out for air superiority before raining hell down on the ground units, tanks being unique from each other, yet still strong, but at the same time, requiring teamwork to survive. I want to see infantry actually making use of tanks as rolling cover and working to protect their cover, and tanks that work to protect their infantry push.
That is the game I want to play, and I hope that one day, dust can be that game
