Tickets help with the Lottery Jadek is running. You can complete challenges to increase your chance of winning. Biomassing yourself is one such challenge.
Definitely worth doing the lottery, though I would advice against this challenge. Some of the challenges are different ways of playing the game, such as using the PS Move to get a Headshot or get a Melee kill. They are mostly fun little things that add some variety to your game play beyond the usual kill people shtick.

Hmm, since (supposedly) you can ask nicely and have support undo your biomass there might be a lot of "zombies" walking around the forums soon.

I honestly don't know. Like I said, I was never a fan of "win this, win lottery" stuff. Biomass was certainly that in the beginning if you were serious enough. The multiplier is a good reward as it still means that someone has to be willing to do the challenges rather than "I will just blow up this alt and get 10,000 tickets." I like the multiplier, though that does have the problem of forward thinking mercs starting alts and keeping them for the multiplier later (*whistles*).
Dunno. Definitely need some way to prove that "zombies" are not around, though that concern is probably going to disappear because I could believe that support would undo a biomass if it was a ticket like "I messed up bad, I was just so emotional and hurt that I let my anger get the better of me; having some time to think, is there anyway I can get my character back?" but in a week that probably won't be the case.
And, for all we know, your prizes might go up in a puff of smoke or the big lever labeled "KILL DUST" is thrown. That is the problem with them announcing Legion; it turns us into a bunch of nihilists.

Even if the tickets are entirely worthless, I like worthless money. Family in Germany still has some of the 50,000,000 single bills from Weimar Germany. Wheelbarrows full of cash for a loaf of bread.
