I was looking at the cost of an LAV and begin to wonder what would happen if a new player was to buy these and loose just 2-3 in a game. That is 40-60K just gone, now add in cost of suit and low ISK payout and you can easily see a new player going broke before they can have fun with the game. Second the cost of a skilled into LAV is high and there to me seems no benefit between a skilled into LAV and militia LAV. I already have a LAV BPO and I am very thankful, but for other players I would love to see them have at least one thing going their way. So CCP can you please bring back the BPO LAV for everyone or at least a way to purchase a BPO Aurum version.

Nope. BPOs are no longer being added except for the possibility of requiring minerals or salvaged components to produce for all future BPOs. In that case, that will just transfer the cost.

Won't happen. CCP has come down on BPO's for purchase and the BPO jeep was ridiculous. It was Death Race 2,000 with people using free cars to run people over.
The new player can adapt through various ways: Militia Jeeps can be used which are cheaper. Use Drop Uplinks to get into the fight faster rather than using an LAV all the time. Recall. Providing they stop in a location that doesn't have enemies running about, it is just 5 seconds to recall the jeep. It doesn't have to be used like a rental car with full coverage. |

They need to add single-person unarmed Speeders (as shown at Fanfest) and have a Starter Fit of them that's given as an infinite-use starter fit (NOT a BPO). |

Yeah I've certainly got a hell of a lot of use out of my BPO lav, often calling one in right before jumping into somebody else's, just in case a blue needs one. Even just legitimate "for me" uses it must have saved me >40million ISK.
But no, my alts that don't have one seem to fare ok. It just becomes a thing of always recalling. There's a reason we don't have BPO dropships.
If they bring in a whole thing where you can use BPO's plus raw materials to produce a certain number per day or whatever then that'd be great also. For corp mates it'd probably be free, just give me the materials and you can have a batch.
But that's a no from me also. |

I liked the old BPO's personally. Easy kills everywhere. But too many people cried because they got ran over. And that's how you win in this game - you cry. But that's another issue.
40 to 60k per lav is kinda high for a starter. militia LAV's start around 18k (I think.) That should be a little easier on a new players wallet. My most expensive LAV is only 76k. Last build it was a little over 200k. I still miss my proto lav though. Crying got those removed too.

Oh god no - the LAV spam was bad enough before and now it's still pretty bad when you get in a match with people who bought the Bloodraider's saga and whatnot.
LAVs should be a planned for resource, not something that you can just spam willy nilly.

LAVs are rellay weird in this game. The Militia ones cost a good chunk of change, so much that you should recall them instead of treating them as disposable. The STD LAVs have 1 extra respected slot and little more CPU/PG to go along with it, but the same HP as there free SP little brothers (much like HAVs)
Using an LAV as a LAV in this game is fun, but not in any practical. Why have a mini-railgun on a LAV driving around wasting people away when you can just fit a militia HAV and do it all yourself?
My Hooptie Attack LAV cost 80k+ ISK... My Hooptie II Costs 35k+ ISK... (BPO LAV)

Not gonna happen. BPOs are only for packs from PS store. Getting rid of them sucks ISK and possibly AURUM so they are not coming back.
F2P doesn't mean reasonable to play. It means we want your money.

I have in my possession LAV BPOs and BPO fittings for them.
I can mass produce LAVs for people who want them. If you see me in game and would like a LAV, simply mail me your request and transfer 10k ISK to my account and I will oblige you with a fully fitted LAV at our foot spawn.

You know, Starter fits are the same problem as BPOs. I played an FW with a squad of 5, the enemy team used almost nothing but starter fits. Wanna hear about our salvage, I got a Maddy I blew up. 1 thing for 5 people when they were down 70+ clones. Starter fits hurt the economy just as much as BPOs.

lol, yeah. that thing was a mini-tank. ahh, the good ole days.
This thread actually got me motivated to play around with my LAV build again. I'm going to try something out later. Only 61k isk now and should be even more survivable. We'll see.

Not only do you get fat off of the silver spoon of PC, you also slit the throats of honest businesspeople trying to help the common merc and make a small profit at the same time.

BPOs hurt the PLAYER-RUN economy (you know, that one that doesn't even exist in-game yet? Yeah, that's why they're not doing BPOs any more) because they can be bought, sold and traded in an open market, and setting ANY price for them negates the value of their finite equivalents as long as more BPOs can keep being added into circulation.
Starter Fits CAN'T be traded, and thus avoid the problem of breaking the economy that CCP vare about. Which doesn't exist yet, but whatever. |
