Couldn't be because CCP is 3-4 years behind in development, stuck on PS3, had no executive producer (or direction for years), had to fire one of their main devs, fails at communicating (largely because they have no good news to communicate) and outsourced their programming to china.

No, those couldn't be why this game is dead/dying. Must be that red-line rail tanks cant snipe with impunity.

You know, most games where the teams are so tilted that a victory is inevitable, have systems in place to speed up the losing process so they don't waste everyone's time.

Can you think of a few?

if you get rid of the redline right now only about 3 corporations would still be in dust and the player count would drop to under 1000 per week maybe less.

the redline is what keeps the protostopmers from completely killing the playerbase.

The Redline is a necessity, although it is unfortunate. Think of it like having to put down Old Yeller; it's gotta be done.

One of the reasons why Ambush is so utterly broken is that once one team gets a foothold, it is pretty much impossible to stop them. It is among the main reasons why tanks get so much hate. AV requires setting up; spawning, finding the troublemaker, and getting into a good position for a solid engagement. It is hard to do that if you are spawning randomly and are probably within a 3 second sprint in 3 of the 4 directions to finding an Infantryman that is ready to rip your nipples off.

You are an ADS pilot, yes?
How would you feel if you were 1 shot from killing a Militia tank but he slips into the Redline just as your missile hits him, making him completely immune? Sitting at the edge of the Redline killing people with a railgun (if you do this, I don't like you). The second they take ANY kind of damage, roll back 5 feet and "lulz is imune,"

If it is made a one way shield, how does that work for Dropships that require a far larger area than what the maps currently provide? Do they just splat like a bug on a windshield?

The Redline is a really complicated issue because there is absolutely no right answer, just answers with different problems.

But you can chase the tank down in the redline/Shield
Also your idea isent bad just make it for tanks, there the only thing that take advantage of it, Ad a timer as well

The red line should really be removed for the sake of ground soldiers and every vehicle in dust. Tanks always stay in the red line to shoot down dropships through the whole game. Their only intention to shoot down dropships. But if that wasn't a good enough reason in certain maps snipers can just stand there and kill anyone that tries to touch null cannons.
I believe there are a number of solutions that CCP can do to fix this.
 1. Take away the read line
 2. Don't allow vehicles of any kind to spawn or enter the red line.
 3. Push the red line back.
 4. give each team more than one alternate spawn so the red line wouldn't be needed.
 5. Lock vehicle weapons in modules when they enter the red line.
These are all solutions that could easily solve this whole ordeal considering the red line imbalances all maps sometimes actually favoring the team that's not losing. I mean honestly I'm sure everyone can agree that the amount of things you can do while in the red line is just crazy and annoying. Like half the time the line doesn't even actually sere it's purpose considering if you're getting red lined chances are the match is over there's no way of turning the game around. Assuming you did actually by the grace of God get out the red line and eliminate the enemy team. Once you reach a null cannon you're screwed because their whole team is going to spawn in that base kill you and repeat the same process.

When someone says remove the redline, I instantly think they haven't thought that idea out fully enough. If the redline is removed and they get stomped until they hide in the MCC, then they will see why its a bad idea. The redline is needed in this game. It safeguards against alot that cannot be foreseen.

Redline should work for both teams. Maybe fog of war could prevent people to rush at enemy red line. So both teams will not see what's happening outside line. But that could be end for railguns and snipers if they will need to move out from redline to kill anything.

thats why you add a final terminal that can be hacked and end the match.

So we eliminate the opportunity for mercenaries to come out of the MCC without threats and then we have a objective that a enemy can hack which would biomass remaining clones available?

 LOL! No.

I would love for some of you guys to experience first hand your own ideas and get stomped. I know without a doubt viewpoints would change. People do not consider both sides of the coin.
