Just like IRL, just like WW1, heavy armoured units have been mainly used for breach and clear, dealing with hostile armour, or point defence.
Currently with all the moan about large blasters being easy mode for tankers I disagree as I believe they are fine and rails are commonplace now.
But if the large blaster being the only viable AP large turret was nerfed to AV, tankers would be unable to counter infantry AV effectively.
The Resolve: Allow tankers the option to fit a small turret to the side of the barrel of the large turret to allow better AP capability while maintaining the large turret to be effective in its role.
Do not tell me that, that is the job of your gunners. What if you had none or were unable to fit a turret due to pg/cpu issues without reducing viability of tank resistance.
Bear in mind guys that the blaster is the AP weapon of gallente in large blaster form. With the large missile and railguns being the AV of caldari.
Tanks are the major infantry support unit in entering and clearing or defending. As nothing more powerful as this and as flexible will be introduced soon. Tanks beed to be the most powerful thing on the field.
SCVs, which are Squad Command Vehicles are point defence vehicles, these will come in the future as a different hull of havs. They have only 3 turrets when moving, 2 small, 1 medium, and when parked on a point, the large turret is accessible. This has to be able to pack a punch against everything it encounters.
On a side note: CCP, until the redline is fixed and until AA HAVs are introduced, make the elevation of tanks a little less. As the job of AA HAVs is being completed by current HAVs.

Look, I like the idea.
The issue with it is that it defeats the purpose of changing turret mechanics in the first place. If all it takes for my railgun to be useful against infantry also is glueing a blaster to it, why not use a blaster in the first place?
A HAV has a lot of power, and I think it's only reasonable to say that it should sacrifice some AI or AV versatility based on it's chosen role.
I do think, though, that the HAV should be capable of higher-DPS AI than any infantry, particularly considering how easy it is to avoid them.
