Yes, HAVs are OP. Hardeners just make it worse.
A cheap militia HAV, even without hardeners, has way more EHP, way more DPS and way more speed than any infantry dropsuit. At anything other than really short range it can track targets just as well. And it still requires just a single player.

You do realize the results of all the crying from tankers and pilots in 1.6 on how crappy tanks are and derpships as well resulted in 1.7 tankbustitallandifnotusaderpship514 buff which resulted in the railgun redline tank right? I mean really NOW you see what you tank and pilots short sighted crying did to this game yeah?
Deal with it and then wait for the nerf to balance this crap back to where it was more sane.

WRONG! Neither are op. I can solo kill 3 tanks(ANY) in a single match. They are trading armor for hardeners. My forge is pumping out "upto" 4000hp a pop. I can one shot them if I get a direct hit to the fuel cells in rear (168% damage). What most of you "op" guys dont know is, tanks/ships have weak points. Anywhere else is a waste of ammo. |

In all honesty I think that most of it is there isn't any difference in the efficacy between the different tiers of hardeners, damage mods and shield boosters nor are there any skills to increase damage, armor, shields or passive resistances. You can fit a militia tank for 75k ISK and 0SP that is almost as tough as standard tank that can survive AV long enough to do some serious damage. Far more people would be willing to spend several million ISK and SP for a good tank than would spend 75k ISK and 0 SP.
Not saying that's the only problem or that even complex mods shouldn't be tweaked but it is the overwhelming majority of the current problem.

I live the 'waves of opportunity/vulnerability' design, but the most important single factor in that model is speed. Imagin what would happen if tanks were mush slower or infantry much faster: tanks would be rolling coffins.
Imagine if infantry had webbing grenades or could fire their handheld AV weaponry from a LAV or hoverbike: Tank = dead meat.
We need to have all the AV tools in the game before we can balance - CCP either had a cunning plan or made a noob's mistake by changing the vehicle model without supplying all the AV tools at the same time.
I support SP rollover.

Edit: About stacking hardeners - if we need to address perma-hardening(hard to know w/out webs, tbh) then the stacking penalty should be to the duty cycle, not the resist %. This keeps the 'waves of opportunity' model intact. There really is no "waves of opportunity" thing.
Most "good" HAV fits I see use 2 hardeners that they can cycle constantly.

Just got out of a match with a gunnlogi with shield and armor hardeners. Granted this didn't protect him from my 4 boundless RE's on his fuel tank but it's also not the first time I've seen this. Duel/multi hardeners are a big part of the problem, they remove the "window of opportunity" infantry are supposed to get. Even then I'd still be happy with a blaster range nerf and a buff to proxies by either making them stronger or removing the warning.

It's like saying rail rifles are meant to kill heavies while assault rifles are meant to kill scouts.

no redline tank was an issue before, there were just less pilots to complain about it, the pilot polulation went up with 1.7
don't really care if they nerf hardeners, i prefer a buffer most times anyway. i foresaw the QQ and learned not to rely on them knowing they will get nerfed. after that it will probably be an AB nerf which will kill dust final for me. just killing time til i can fly in planetside2, dont care what gets nerfed here anymore this is a downhill project
