Hi just wanted to know if there were any plans being implemented to improve the new player experience.
Getting stomped consistently, not because I lack skill, but because I'm outclassed gear wise is not fun. Eve and other mmos have areas where new players can develop before being thrown to the wolves while dust you all get tossed into the same pot, and being told to stick with it, when the game lacks full content just isn't worth it.
I really want to like this game, its art style and mechanics are quite unique, not to mention its connection to eve a world rich in lore and general substance, but as it stands its not fun to play in a stilted arena. |

Popped your like cherry.
There are a ton of groups out there helping new mercs like us. Two that come to mind are Dust University and The Learning Coalition. D-UNI does the same as it's EVE counterpart. Join the chat channel "Learning Coalition" in game. There's always someone online to help out. Know they have helped me a lot. :D
I would rather die my way than live by yours.

Thanks for the response, it's not so much needing help with the skill system or market I've come from eve and generally enjoy complex games, ala dwarf fortress, so I am used to how things go in that regard. Having some squad mates seems to help a decent amount but unfortunately I can't use a mic as I am playing with a keyboard and mouse and only have two usb slots, and this is a bar to entry for most squads.
Frankly its just not worth it when there are better alternatives available. I am primarily a PC gamer and decided to try dust out in an effort to transform my ps3 into something more then an overpriced paperweight. Unfortunately I have been spoiled by this as I am used to control systems that are a lot more responsive, as well as enjoying a higher level of graphical fidelity.
If ccp ever deigns to put this title on PC I would play it, even spend a little cash as I love the art style and the general idea behind this title. But as it stands now its well, just a promise of something more, a promise that won't bear fruit for a considerable amount of time. Ill leave my character to skill up and perhaps if fanfest shows that the development pipeline for this game is going somewhere interesting ill return.
Otherwise I hope you guys get some enjoyment out of it, I can see the potential but well that's just it. |

u can ban the troll out of the forums but u can't ban the forums out of the troll.

Short answer no, long answer. This game is all about Grinding to "git gud"
Long answer, that's like playing a mmo and asking can I be max level without grinding for half a year? If you don't like mmofps rpg games where skill is primarily based on sp allocation this is the wrong game. There is a reason this game is quite unpopular for the 80 million people who can play it (People who own a ps3).
My advice: Either learn to love/hate the game, or run as far and as fast as you can before you get sucked into the zombie grind. One day you will wake up and realize you spent hours a day for a straight month to unlock a gun that does 3 more damage, but it's got a gold tag sooo.... YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! |
