The problem is the only reasonable answer is Jihad Jeep, Forge Gun, or another tank.
Why does the swarm launcher even exist anymore? Why does the plasma cannon exist period?

Why does the swarm launcher even exist anymore? Why does the plasma cannon exist period? To take down lavs and dropships? As far as I'm concerned tanks are not the only vehicle in the game. Did you actually just suggest using swarms to take down a dropship?

Swarms only need a very tiny boost to damage, but they need to be faster because they need to impact together to make any kind of a difference. Afterburners should be for disengaging or quickly moving behind cover to avoid further shots from swarms. They also need to be able to rapidly hit fleeing tanks that are still incredibly fast.
Plasma cannons need a slight buff to projectile speed, and a healthy buff to direct damage.
Forge guns seriously are fine, I am still terrified of a single Proto Breach FG or IAFGs who know how to aim, I die plenty of times to top level forge guns who's aim was spot on. I fly Incubus which isn't nearly as nimble as the Python, plus forge guns do additional damage to armor, and the weakspot is more apparent. And their missiles don't fire as fast. Really the Python is just all around better except when it comes to killing shield vehicles, at which point the railgun Incubus shines. Blasters are only useful on the side, but thanks to the huge new grid costs for turrets, you just take too much of a hit to survivability to want to fit that side gun, which will still likely only be marginally effective even with a competent gunner.
I don't even know if that infuriating glitch is still there, which resets the gunners turret to the center if he tries looking towards the nose of the ship. That is or was absolutely broken and it's been reported like 12 trillion times throughout Uprising.

Why does the plasma cannon exist period? fixed I don't know, a competent tanker isn't going to let you get up and put remotes all over him, he will either disengage because he should always be moving anyways, or he will blast you down with his blaster. You can get lucky with traps if they aren't paying attention, but it is certainly a legit way to take them down.
I agree with your fix.
