I told you to post this in rookie training grounds.
Post an 'LF corp' in corporation recruitment and include that you have a mic and there'll be a bunch of decent corps happy to pick you up, by the way.

GTFO before its too late!
Edit: Play with militia rail tanks (sica fit with armor plates and rail damage mods) to gain ISK. Do not spend skill points yet.

Also, you should use militia amarr heavy suit until you specialize. Use it with a recruiter BPO assault rifle or some other good rifle: CR, RR, ScR.
These two tactics are pretty lame, but valid for a new player that has to survive in this harsh game IMO.
Drop it like its hat.

-mike Specialise! And get into a corp and squad up, you can get a proto weapon(dont use it, use the stats) and an advance suit within the first day of playing. Only other thing that will bug you will fighting against organised squads, make your own and call in some OP's!
Good luck!

A few disorganized points for the OP, and welcome to New Eden. Things can be fairly frakked up around here but there's real beauty under the scar tissue.
1) There's a lot of peeps in this game who can slay in a pure militia fitting with not a single skillpoint spent, so don't get sucked into the better gear mindset. Yes it makes a difference bit your skill, intel & tactics make a hella more difference and are a a lot cheaper. If you're doing things right you should be dripping with ISK in fairly short order.
2) Gank means a lot more than tank in this game, so if your skillset is good enough to ameliorate incoming fire i'd lean towards getting more damage on them. Best bang for the buck here is prolly advanced weapon with the best damage mod you can fit(they don't scale linearly). If you're specced into Ammarian assaults the SCR is a no-brainer, otherwise the CR/ACR hits hard out to medium range and has nice fitting stats. RR is the long range beast at the moment. Remember before investing too much that CCP can and will most likely nerf things right out from under you.
3) You live and die by intel. This means profile dampening for defense, both the passive skill and modules. If you're running solo it's worth thinking about an advanced/proto scanner.
4) Maintain focus on getting you specific role skills up, anything left over put into the core passive armor/shield/fitting/biotics skills. Remember that it take as many sp to go from lvl 4 to 5 as from lvl 0 to 4.
5) Imo it's worth investing a little bit, once you've got a solid STD/ADV main role, in an uplink scout. Militia suit is fine for this - those uplinks will earn you lots of juicy warpoint and more importantly allow you to help out your team or even turn the tide of battle. Given that you're military you'll prolly see the bad **** coming before many of your teammates do and your uplinks can pre-emptivly save you team from a redline if that suits your playstyle.
Happy hunting, Cmdr o7

they are pretend bullies. In faction warfare its broken right now. So they flock to it because there is no competition. When a real team shows they come here and cry about the the same thing that they do day in day out, gang up on new guys.

Minmatar backstory: We were slaves to the Amarr, then smacked up the Amarr and left while flipping the bird at their crazy ass psycho of an empress and started our own republic. Watch out while in the merc quarters if you haven't had your tetnis shot, in rust we trust.
Now on a different note, if you decide on going as a medic/triage class logistic role then get proto rep tool asap, for pub games you don't need anything more than a basic cr, then double tank shield and armor with high reps since the point of this role is to be hyper survivable so you can last as long as possible while keeping every one else stocked on ammo and the person you are attached to alive while under heavy fire(this requires a very competent heavy or armor tanked slayer), or you could just contact me as that would be quicker to explain. However only if you are interested less in killing and more in supporting. |

I have 2 answers foor you 1 positive and 1 negative.
On 1 hand Id like to say just find a corp .Get to know those guys and keep trying.Ask questions and read everything in the game about modules and there descriptions.Specialize in one role at first and stick with it .Dont throw your sp everywhere unless you want to play LOGI.
And on the other hand Id say the more you play the more you become invested the more cynical and jaded you become. Because just when you think it couldn't get any worse they change **** around on you and by they I mean CCP .The nerf weapons into the ground.Hype up content they never bring out and this game probably wont be on PS4.So in the end all your grinding effort will be for nothing.
But they could always prove me wrong....who knows.

This game has a horrible community and complains every time someone kills them.
Put minimum points into combat Rifle and rail rifle. The CR is good up close, you hip fire it.
The rail rifle is good at a distance. you aim the RR.
Take either cheap medium or light suits, equip a drop uplink so you can set spawn points, one of the above rifles, and militia grenades.
This will generate about 1000 WP per match. If you use a militia AR this will bring the cost down to 1700 ISK per set, and you can die like 40 or 50 times a match and still make a ton of ISK and SP.
But seriously, OP, remember DUST is a free game, and don't expect too much. Also remember that the entire dev team was sacked 7 months or so ago, and everyone is still new. |
