Also, I've found it's easier to solo tanks from low rooftops, the kind you can reach on foot - you want to try for crits (not necessary, but definitely very helpful) and this gives you a better vantage on those weak points. Happily printing ISK with permahardeners and MLT blasters. Just let me get a couple mil more before nerf, CCP!

OP just a little, though. People act like tanks didn't still kill people before 1.7. They weren't as good, but they still killed people. Lots. When 1.7 dropped they made tanks twice as strong as before and made AV twice as weak. It quadrupled their effectiveness against infantry. Well placed FGs can still put the fear of god in HAVs. If they aren't that well placed, though, they can be easily dispatched by the HAVs infantry buddies. AV nades are practically suicide to attempt, since you have to get close enough to wipe the tankers arse to hit with them. Swarms are like sending a bunch of midges at a bear. Used to be a PRO swarmer could at least make a tanker sweat. The only truly effective means of dispatching a tanker is another tanker who isn't a joke. So the problem with that is...you get into a pub match where the other team doesn't HAVE a tanker that isn't a joke. Suddenly you're riding herd on scared infantry to the tune of 25/0 and people get annoyed. I guess I'm saying balance AV and vehicles and you don't get called a scrub nearly as often. If I have to spend 2mil SP to proto Swarms, they should at least do more than tickle you, since you don't even need proto hardeners to be able to speed off to your redline before they do any damage.

I fear tankers from back before the vehicle respec. The high SP investment and the amount of ISK involved really created some skilled players. AV could kill fairly easily and frankly if you sucked at tanking or flying the game weeded you out. I don;t think people really cried much because they could deal with a tank or two on the field. Now anyone can tank. When CCP makes their changes to tanks (i'm pretty sure they will do something) hopefully the true skill will shine through again. But right now, in all honesty there's no skill in running permahardeners or redline rail tanking and a lot of people are doing it. I don't QQ about it though. The only effect tanks have had on me is I run Damps now so I can move around them. Sorry for late reply I just carjacked CaoticFox's Baloch and had to take it for an extended spin. I mean you can find video everywhere of tanks solo'ing infantry like nothing (just check out CEOPyrex's videos), but I haven't found any of AV (you know... ANTI-VEHICLE) personnel solo'ing vehicles on any type of consistent basis.

Mortedeamor Imperfects Negative-Feedback 1382	Posted - 2014.02.15 12:14:00 - [35] - Quote its actually very simple true adamance you see with the way things are now the overall ehp of your tank doesnt rise so much as you lvl up but your waves of attack become faster... every tank of every lvl has very relative stats. what this means a mlt rail with dmg mods can insta pop a solid fitted tank maddies with basic modules have the exact same res as maddies with complex. what this brings to tanking in dust..tank v tank are more skill based now than ever with tanks it doesnt matter how much sp you have what matters is how good you are with a tank. ive killed blaster maddies with somas and soloed scrubby gunnlogis with somas....with no hardeners only 2 reppers..why not because i had better gear but because they blow chunks witha tank..sure tanks may be op in some ways..but they are also one of the only things in dust where sp doesnt really matter. sure it makes a difference in how fast you can come back but it doesnt drastically raise the overall abilities of your tank like it used to. so in short yes tanks are a bit op maybe they are fotm..but you scrubby blue dots better think twice before you call one vs a skilled tanker. no matter what she or he is using. you see true they cant kill you because your good witha tank and they are not that simple more-tae-dee-um-more stop asking how to pronounce my name its quite irritating

If they weren't in a tank they'd be in the redline sniping, or (before 1.7) rolling around in a LLAV. PC tankers are a different issue, and have my respect, as there is a challenge there (not that there's a lot of PC right now). Hope that clears things up for you.
