Yep, everything looks in order. For better or worse, the CR seems to have replaced the Shotgun in a lot of Scout arsenals.

True. Sad, but true. That rifle is now one of the best, if not the best scout weapon.

It's a great scout weapon, it outranges the short ranged weapons, has an extremely tight hipfire, and you can put enough alpha up to drop anything short of a heavy before they figure out where you are.
If you hear the words "WORTH IT!" look about, something hilarious just happened.

Another factor that play into this shift as well Range In the current environment range > Alpha damage
Something else is that the CR is quieter than the other RiflesGǪ RR would serve well spool up is irrelevant when you have surprise, but the noise alerts everybody around that you are there.

I certainly use CR + NK or SMG on my Minja character. Great for flanking, getting in and getting out. I still use the SG (and the BAR, you know, for the lulz) on my Galscout char. Why do the Gallente "specialty" weapons require Light Weapon 4? If one could get out of the Militia SG a little more easily, you might see more of them. |

Ultimate? No. Most versitile? I'd say so.
There are better weapons for close quarters environments and better weapons for open areas. It just depends on the map. Most engagements happen within the combats rifle's area of expertise though so it does very well.
Plus nobody shield tanks so most are like butter.

seeing as i prefer my lvl ops 3 CR to my proF3 shotty(every shoty fit is now CR),id have to say yes.shotty is a POS and a liability to use i CQC with how much damage dropoff it gets in CQC,unlike CR
A strange game.

I've just to gone Shotty to replace my AR - Shotty is fine with 1lv (despite its obvious weaknesses). I'm not sure CR would be without investment. Plus I figure I'm not gonna skill up any weapon until they are all available and been through a patch.

Maybe for Minjas. Try a rail rifle on a Ganja with 2 range amps (73m radius, soon to be 76m). You are ALWAYS in the sweet spot, if you playit right. It's a beautiful thing.

I still use shotgun and do fairly well with it.
On my NK fit, I use a pistol.
I barely use Rifles so I'm not that good with them. I'll try the CR and NK combo some other time. |

The shotgun is still quite potent, I have great fun with it in the Gallente Research lab complex. It's a niche weapon though so clearly a rifle is far more versatile. |

Funny enough, i was having my mind blown on what to choose between shotgun prof or combat prof, at the end i know which is highly gonna get nerfed and so my specialty kicked in so i went shotgun... turned out 39/8, 29/8 and 15/3 which i don't think is terrible and no way would i get as much kills from that combat rifle.

almost 2x dps, ludicrously low fitting costs, more than 10x the range, a great scope, amazing hip fire, better aim assist, and a better damage profile.
Why do we use the shotgun again?

I do use the CR on my scout sometimes, but I prefer to rock the ScR. There is a weird thrill knowing every time I pull the trigger, I am one shot closer to overheating and killing myself. It makes me aim better.

Plus nobody shield tanks so most are like butter. Yay, finally someone else sees that what is really great about the CR is it is the most versatile rifle. Good in almost all situations, best in none. And yes it is super easy to fit. But I don't think that in and of itself makes it OP

Because DPS isn't everything, the shotty may have lower DPS but it applies all its DPS instantly as opposed to over several shots. CR is a great weapon but so is the shotgun they are apples and oranges though.
