After thinking about ambush, I came up with this idea. Suppose both sides have a fort with a hackable objective inside. You have two -five minutes to prepare before the battle starts so that you could place installations, proximity mines, etc. The objective is that the first group who breaks into the opponents fort and hacks the objective wins.
Or maybe make it more capture the flag like where you take the objective out and back to your base to score points. Would be awesome I do believe. |

I like this idea and all but what role could the objective we hack play in the bigger picture? Like the objectives we have now shoot down massive command centers. Maybe we could capture a bomb of a sort to blow up an installation that prevents OB support on that planet. That would be pretty cool.

No. That wouldn't really be different from skirmish. A game mode like that would need 2 teams with different goals. For example one team must defend the fort until a timer runs out while the other team has to capture it. 2 forts would be weird.

Yeah I actually thought about that after I posted. Maybe the idea is that you are setting charged explosives.
The primary difference between this idea and skirmish would be the objective being located inside a building/cave/some other structure. |

I think it's a good idea. The team that divides defense/offense in the best way would win. |

So it could be a game mode where vehicles and OB support mean next to nothing? That could keep people from complaining about vehicles controling the game. I like it.

I love the idea of a siege...but hate the idea of arcadey capture the flag mechanics.
New Eden is cold and harsh and not for the weak.
Give those fortress defenders heavy blaster cannon bunkers and angled terrain to slow us down and force up along narrow pathways, make us bleed and die for every slow agonizing step we take up those massive bastion walls. And let us all cry out with exhilaration as we beat the keep and take it for ourselves!

Nope in any siege vehicles will play integral parts being mobile cover, busting bunkers and turrets, carrying troops into underground garages, providing bunker like support and reps.

My original goal was not to make vehicles useless, but to add a different kind of scenario.
Also there should never be a capture the flag game mode, vehicles present a problem with that aspect. So maybe the goal is to plant explosives and when say three explosives get planted you win. (With the option to defuse explosives) |

as a play on that:
how about instead of something to hack, you have to hold an objective by player-count. a small socket is designated as a zone, and you capture it by having more people within the zone than the other team.

Maybe just add some game modes where we can just f*ck about for an unpresidented amount of time on the district that our corps fought so hard to get and get literally no reward for.
