Quite a few people are so against an infantry respec in 1.8 because they fear people would chase the FOTM and battles would become boring and stale. However, I'd wager the exact opposite would happen. Give people an infantry respec, and you'll start seeing more diverse battles in Dust than ever before! Give people the opportunity to skill into the core content the originally wanted to and just watch as we see people spread out into a bunch of different roles and suits.
FOTM was an issue before because there really wasn't much to choose from to begin with. And with past FOTMs we were able to see it coming a mile away. Can someone tell me what the FOTM in 1.8 will be? Everyone I ask says something different.

Also, if people are forced to keep SP with the current FOTMs next build, I'll lol. But is it even certain a FOTM will occur? Like I said, we've been able to see them all come a mile away before, but now it seems uncertain. There's a lot of different things that look really good. And even if something is broken, those players will enjoy it for a little bit and then it'll get fixed and they'll be SOL because this is the last time there is even a chance of a respec.
The amount of diversity we get from the initial respec will far outweigh the people who choose to wait a couple weeks for the possibility that something may or may not emerge as FOTM.

You should save your SP just in case you might not get one, though. I'm still going for scout 5 on Gallente, so this doesn't really apply to me (getting my assault SP back and shield mods would be great, though). And my main thing will still be Amarr Commando which I already have to 5, so doesn't really affect me either. But still, I want to see more diversity on the field and a respec is the best way to do that, plus it is totally fair given the circumstances.
Nothing is guaranteed yet, if you want a respec you need to fight for it right now!
