The description of the SMG says it's semi-automatic. Descriptions are hardly anything to be taken seriously.
Especially as CCP have stated multiple times that it is an AV weapon, and its stats clearly show that it is meant to be one.

Would have worked well then. Three flux grenades will usually take care of shields and pop that proto swarm in. Would have done wonders.

You're wrong Cat. Tanks are extremely weak if you manage to catch them on cooldown. The problem is that it's pretty much impossible against good tankers.
Tanks need some hardener changes (one option could be to only allow 1 hardener fitted), slightly less repping ability and a lower accerelation (top speed is fine imo).
Then Swarms need to change to a 20% damage increase from Standard to Proto rather than the current 50% damage increase (this would be in the form of a Standard and Advanced buff and no change to Proto).

all swarms need imo is a projectile speed increase, and maybe a 200m lock range. We need to go back to the old slot layout and hardener stats to fix hardeners.

Let me let you in on a little secret, I run double hardeners. When I take massive damage like that, both of them are popped at the same time. After they go down in 30 seconds, I'm vulnerable for 45 or so seconds. The fact that you nearly killed the tank before it had a chance to get hardeners on should tell you something (Assuming it was a gunnlogi). And it probably only took you a few seconds to apply this damage.
Agreed though, that the window for AV opportunity should be wider. Stacking penalties on hardeners, that affect cooldown time. Though you would still RARELY ever catch me with my pants down like that. Usually, the only time you see my tank is WHEN MY HARDENERS ARE UP. I don't **** around with my half mil tanks(ok well sometimes I do).

No they aren't. Armour Tanks are weak to high alpha, Shield tanks are weak to DPS as I find it without resists

i was thinking how vulnerable tankers that tend to fit and cycle hardeners would be if activating one module of the same class (such as armor or shield) activated all of the modules that belong to its class.
lets say we have a proto armor hardeners and a mlt armor hardener for demonstration. both fitted onto a tank.
the player activates the mlt armor hardener. and the proto armor hardener gets activated automatically at the same time.
i dont know how well something like this would work out though. but it would create an actual disadvantage moment in using multiple hardeners. preventing cycling. |
