So I run Scrambler Pistol, RE, Gallente Scout (with Assault Rifle variants and Mass Driver) so this is my perspective:

If you really want to run knives and shotgun it's wise to go Minmatar Scout. You really need the speed for them. However in 1.8 they will not have a Profile reduction bonus so you may fall prey to Caldari Scouts. Currently the passive scan range on a Gallente scout is a wonderful tool, one of the best in Dust IMO.

It is ten times easier to avoid detection when you know where everyone is and where they a facing, at all times in a (usually) 50 meter radius. Minmatar Scout needs to get within twenty. The scan range is absolutely great when paired with RE's because you don't even have to be in the same room to watch them.

Caldari scout will be the best at omniscience but the Gallente will still be superior in ability to hide/sneak. But that's not to say the Minmatar Scout can't do it. Sometimes when I come across a minmatar scout, they can just disappear like a fart in the wind they are so fast.

Oh yeah that hacking bonus will be wonderful though. Fastest critters on the field.

I'll have to explain my playstyle, at the moment I mainly run two different fits on an ADV Minmatar Scout: first one is a Scrambler Pistol/NK + RE for point defense with one KinCat and one CardReg, second one is a dual KinCat Shotgun/Scrambler Pistol. In 1.8 I'll still be using Shotguns, Scrambler Pistols, Nova Knives and Remote Explosives paired with the Cloacking Device. So, Minmatar: +I like my Nova Knives +That hacking bonus doe! +1 additional low slot for more speed -Still somewhat easy to scan Gallente: +Passive Reps +Invisible +4 lows and 2 highs means I can do a lot of things +Scan Range -Lacks the Minmatar Scout bonuses what should I do? You can look me up in Alliance chat if you need to wring any questions I was actually waiting on you to reply, I think I'll go Gallente just for the profile reduction, I'm actually quite paranoic about Caldari scouts and maining a logi I know I will constantly bringing around a proto scanner. You can get mad armor hp with Gal scout. Have a way to repair it also. If you use armor plates, also use kinetic catalyzers to even out the speed drop. If you're using sidearms(?) only, dampen yourself. It's awesome what you can do with 4 low slots so experiment!
