CCP Dropships are a bit weak ok av try's to kill them and it is effective sometimes but when av hits them it throws the dropship off into building yes it should affect the dropship alittle bit not as much as it does not its hard to regain control and the contact with building do to much damage as well

destroying a moving dropship is one of the more challenging tasks for a forge gunner. In part because after the first hit, you seem so out of control and we can't always predict where you're going to move. If you didn't get knocked around, it might actually be easier to hit you the second time.
A really good drop ship pilot may go the entire match without dieing, so I think things are in a good place right now.
Please give tanks some balance

I find this also. Less experienced dropship pilots seem to fly in slow straight lines, making the shot easier to line up. Experienced dropship pilots always break and swing upward in a wild arc or move behind a nearby structure, breaking line of sight and the eventual follow up shot.
Swarm launchers are even easier to avoid since they have limited lock on range so up up up you go!!

Swarm launchers are even easier to avoid since they have limited lock on range so up up up you go!! Well, Assault Dropship pilots actually have to stay still for short amount of times to line up shots on some occasions, in which case my first instinct is to activate hardener if I have to make a stop, but turns out I am better off not using the harderner. You might wonder why. With 0 harderners active the knock from the FG or Swarms is quite minimal, just messes up your shot and deals high damage (FG being able to take all your shields down) but you might still survive if you get out of there fast enough. With 1 harderner the knock can be as much as 10-20 meters and the direction is competely random, you might get shot from down below and get knocked downwards. Often times this leads to not taking much damage but almost instantly crashing into something. With 2 hardeners the knock gets as high as 20-30 meters and the direction is still random, and that kind of distance is almost sure to throw you into something if you are trying to shoot infantry. The shot itself deals minimal damage.
Hence you have to decide wheter it's smart to use hardeners in a situation or not.
But an ADS pilot just flying around the map not pausing to do any killing simply trying to stay alive is a bad, bad ADS pilot.
R.I.P. Pre-1.7 tanks, you will be missed.

Right now, infantry-dropships combat feels balanced right now. I've had forge gunners kill me. Proto swarms kill me, and a PLC has killed me. Only tanks are mismatched right now.

its holding the accelerator that throws people into thing when they are hit.
if you let go of L1 then you down to a flip into the wall :P
i think its fine, there are ways to avoid it as a pilot so i feel its more of a skill based thing then a gamebreaking thing.

Swarms rock the **** out of my dropships sometimes, they hit me at the front and i end up flying backwards
FG hurt and also rock the boat quite a bit but generally i can evade and keep moving
Shield dropships is effected more than my armor for getting knocked about but my shield is more agile
Intelligence is OP

I'm an assault dropship pilot, and I feel dropships are at a good place with AV. A forge gun dosnt push me much, but it deals lots of damage, forcing me to throw on hardeners and afterburnes, spend a minute in the sky, then come back. When flying low a accept the fact that I am in damger of swarms. They don't do much damage, but they throw me around like a mechanical bull. I admit its really anoying, and iv lost some dropships being forced into the ground or a building, but its a much better way to go then getting one shot by a red line rail.
I'd say walk in my shoes for a day, but you probably still won't understand.

I'm glad that you feel some guilt one shooting dropships with railgun tanks but I disagree with your post. The dropship need counters otherwise it would be op. The knock back of av keeps a dropship pilot on his toes and forces them to be mindful of their surroundings. If there were less or no knock back then dropships could easily ignore basic swarms and forge guns in favor of kills rather than focusing on a very real threat. The knock back can even get the better of experienced pilots who get blood thirsty or tunnel vision which is how it should be. Pilots have to be a step ahead of their enemies so if dropships use teamwork and coordination then the dropship should be able to anticipate the knock and still eliminate the threat.
Rail tanks are easy mode, forge guns require a good amount of player skill. They too should be able to fight off dropships. |
