The matchmaking was to fix the 'uneven' number of people per team. Not guaranteeing your going to get players that wreck face.

Seems to me like it's doing better if you can still compete with skill in the match.
A little better then a wall of RA alliance corps versus corps I've never heard of.
But impacting matches solo is hard to do these days bar a hand full of people. Usually best to have a friend with you if not a Squad of newberries following your instruction. Teamwork is the most Overpowered thing in the game |

if you were wondering the hotfix was to fix games having uneven teams, starting without filling teams, and failing to refill teams when players leave game, it in now way was to prevent you from being teamed up with scrubs, as you are a scrub yourself so in order for that to work we would have to give you a 1 hour que time while the big boys play. Hotfix did not do anything as far as I can tell yesterday got thrown in a 6 vs 9(full AE squad) match, the entirety of the match no one left or joined, 4 of the 7games I played today were uneven for the entirety or were uneven for more than half the match then slowly filled in the holes. Being down 4-6 players for half a match is not fixed imo.

Although I have avoided ambush for a long time, I think a CCP dev mentioned the hotfix was mainly to have even-numbered player teams, but not necessarily have the teams balanced in terms of "skill level". I too have noticed less "empty" matches where it's like 3 people vs 12... but they definitely have not touched the skill level matchmaking to pit squads against squads or aggregate skill points or other indicators like that. That will be a tough algorithm to nail down, harder so by the tiny active player count that exists currently (and that seems skewed to veterans, rather than new players). They have their work cut out for them... |
