Next to the giant central screen console in our merc quarters are two smaller screens that are there for flavor for the in game universe. Typically they just show the same two "commercials" over and over ad nauseum. I propose we allow corporations to run advertisements on those screens for recruitment purposes in exchange for either ISK or Aurum. These can be limited to just showing the corp name and logo with a small tag line "Apply now!" or even if the game could handle it letting the corporations create and edit their own propaganda ads to show on the screens (they'll have to be approved for viewing by CCP, though, so this should probably cost Aurum to run).
The larger the campaign the more the cost. Adventisement campaigns can be targeted to merc quarters in only selected regions (which would run longer than ads shown to everyone but with a more limited viewer base) or only certain times of day to help mitigate the costs and hit the target demographic without going over budget. Perhaps the longer the campaign runs the higher the cost grows cumulatively to eventually keep the available tv time balanced from those corporations that would buy up time to deny another corporation an opportunity to do so (provided that there is a limit to how many ads will run on loop, which might be a good idea, as well.)
This would be a great recruitment tool, as well as introducing new players to the idea of corporations and the feel of New Eden while also giving corporations additional ISK sinks and corporate sabotage routes.

On one hand, it's a pretty cool idea. +1
On the other hand, personally, I've never paid even the slightest bit of attention to anything going on in the merc quarters, so I'm not sure how effective or worthwhile this would be for the corps shelling out for it. This is particularly true now that the neocom is open by default in the merc quarters, so unless you deliberately close it and walk around, you're not going to interact with the room at all. |

I'm all about adding flavor where it fits. This is a small ripple that helps point towards the larger undercurrents just out of view for most players. Even if not that many see it still adds value to the community.

This could also be a good idea. Larger war barge screens would work nicely for this, too. Different screen sizes could cost different amounts.

ok.... as long as it doesnt turn into a form of annoying form of maleware.
because the last thing we need is to open up the market place and get bombarded by 200 different advertisements. at that point they should be paying the ppl to view them. |

I'd love it if we combined this with being able to watch stuff on the TV. Chill on the sofa and watch the world burn.

I like the TV idea quite a bit. As well as the corp ads. It would be especially cool if we could watch a POV of our friends in battles. |

There's no reason why people couldn't do things outside of the typical corp related recruitment stuff. Although the idea of a terribly produced High School News program would both be appalling and appealing.
