What are you missing???
1. Better results. Your game will improve as teamwork is an integral part of DUST and communication is an integral opart of teamwork.
2. Accelerated learning curve. Being able to talk to more experienced players will help you improve more quickly.
What should you get???
Right now, I think the best value for your money is the ps3 wireless headset

Yes I do own them and to me they feel confortable although I don't have big ears.
As for the investment, I suppose if you are looking for the cheapest product these are not for you, but I stand by my statement that these are the best bang for your dollar. Here is a comparison of products I have tried...
1. PS3 blue tooth ear piece. - Not very confortable and kept falling out of my ear. - Broke in about 6 months. - Mic was good, - Good noise cancellation. - others heard me well. - Sound quality is not really an issue as it is only used for chatting. - Wireless - Spent about $45 on it. - Can use it with you phone
2. PDP Afterglow Universal Wired Gaming Headset - Great sound. (Lots of bass. Very crisp and clear) - No Mic support for PS3, Mic only works with XBOX - Not very confortable for people with big heads. Comfort for ears was fine. - Spent about $45 on it. - Wired (not wireless) - Quality : felt cheap
3. Turtle Beach P11 - Poor sound. Hissing is very noticable, requires to turn volume very low not to hear it. Bass is very poor. - Mic was fine, but required turning up volume which increased hissing. - Confortable. - Wired. - Quality: average - $59 when I bought it
4. PS3 Headset - Good sound (very impressed with bass considering it has 40 mm speakers, clear sound) - Confortable - Wireless - Good Mic (Good noise cancellation. Others heard me well.) - Supported by Sony and benefits from PS3 software upgrades. - Quality: very sturdy. - $59 right now.
