I've seen this term used by many posts on Dust and would like to make a point. According to Wikipedia:
- rub (someone or something) hard so as to clean them, typically with a brush and water. - low shrub and grass characteristic of scrubland - a semiabrasive cosmetic lotion applied to the face or body in order to cleanse the skin.
So How can you characterize a Player as a "Scrub." Are you referencing them as a inanimate object such as a Shrub or Grass? Do you perceive them as a Cosmetic Lotion that you apply to you're face? Or possibly an abrasive brush meant to clean? Where do these creatures roam, and where do they originate?
But honestly, the term "scrub" is used far to much. It labels player/s or a group of people based on a Bias opinion in which there is no evidence to support the statement. Plus its naming and shaming, which is never truly a great thing.
Do you see how laughable and foolish that is now?

Scrub has various meanings on the forums. It can be used in a deragatory fashion to belittle another player for his ideas or opinions. Then its used in contrast (i.e. an elite player saying, 'what? I'm a scrub').

While I luvs me a good TLC reference, there is a very interesting take on this, from a Sirlin.net article some years ago.
While "scrub" is generally considered a derogatory term for people who just 'aren't good', there's a more nuanced argument that gets at a psychological mindset that sets 'scrubs' apart from the 'elites'. Sirlin argues: "There is the mistaken notion, though, that by merely continuing to play or "learn" the game, that one can become a top player. In reality, the "scrub" has many more mental obstacles to overcome than anything actually going on during the game. The scrub has lost the game even before it starts. He's lost the game before he's chosen his character. He's lost the game even before the decision of which game is to be played has been made. His problem? He does not play to win."
This has the overall result of losing more often, and avoiding whole other areas of playstyle or learning how to counter/protect against them.

No way, the one where J.D. and Turk are playing hide and seek with the locator thing, and Turk gets the janitor to eat the locator, then J.D. always knows where the janitor is so he can hide from his ambushes....until the battery dies of course... lol

Scrub on this forum means "dirty tricks" or "underhanded trickster" or as someone using cheap tactics to secure their own victory at the cost of other players fun. Such as...a player using a modded controller.

I don't want no scrub. A scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me. Hanging out the passenger side, of his best friend's ride, trying to holler at me? |

Lolwut. Seriously.
The term is a reference to being unclean. Like someone may refer to another as a dirty bum, in reference to a perceived worthlessness.
Lol, rub? Shrub? Seriously? *shakes his head* Scrub.

When I was a kid we used to play football after school. I remember an older kid used to come in the game and knock us all around, saying how he "loves hitting scrubs".
