And as always, if you see someone boosting, report it! The GMs take great pleasure in squishing people that boost in these events.
Why wasn't that reasoning extended to delay this event to involve all the new racial heavies? (I wouldn't hold my breathe for heavy weapons, but that too.)

Why wasn't this reasoning extend to basic heavy frames and sentinels? This could have just as easily read as so...

Further, why not push this event back until we have more than two possible weapons to choose from? (i.e., more than two heavy weapons.)

This is all I need. So far I've been going to the leaderboards and looking at my weekly kills, then assuming about 90% of them are with an HMG. An actual display in the UI somewhere would be awesome.

For the Proto Weapons reward, how is that handled? Is it 300 regular variant Proto weapons total? Or 300 HMGs and Forges? Could I get 300 Proto HMGs, and also 300 Proto Burst HMGs? And 300 Proto Forge guns and the another 300 Assault Forge guns?
I re-read the OP and saw the edit, either the Torchflare KK Forge Gun or the Steelmine Boundless HMG. Is it 300 total FG and HMG or 300 FG and 300 HMG?

You can earn up to 300 HMG and FG each during the event.
Getting infantry kills with a FG is tough, but I will prevail!

Were these events intended to be monthly? Is so, when will we have word of March's event?

I got 80 Forge Guns and 19 HMGs. I'm pretty sure I didn't get that many FG kills and definitely got many 100s more kills with an HMG, enough to hit the 300 cap. I got about 580k SP. I feel like I hit the 750k cap, as my weekly kills for both weeks were over 1,000, and I didn't resort to my sidearm much at all.
Without my individual stats, I have no way of knowing.
