In pondering the tentative role bonus to Minmatar Commandos/Assaults for explosive weaponry I will make a profound prediction as to their role on the battlefields of New Eden.
These operators will be dropship surfers who wield swarm launchers. The limitations to swarm lock on range/coverage (and dropsuit mobility in the case of commando suits) are reduced by placement on a dropship roof.
If it weren't for tanks, forge guns, snipers, and the utter OPness of teamwork this prediction would be air tight.

Commando's as they are now, and will continue to be into next build are designed with fire power, and suppressive capacity in mind.
Being able to tote two light weapons, inclusive of special weapons, including the swarm launcher, plasma cannon, Laser Rifle, and Mass Driver means you have access to weapon combinations and tactical flexibility no other suit could dream of.
In the case of the Minmatar Commando you are looking at a high magazine capacity rifle, massive RoF and Anti armour capacity...you are also looking at a splash damage grenade launcher, and auto locking AV explosive weapon......
Tell me that doesn't scream suppressive fire to you.

I am looking forward to the different suit types and the play styles that they will create. CCP gives us tools to use and we never know how those tools will end up working. It is part of the charm of New Eden. http://themittani.com/features/ess-emergent-gameplay-lemonade-lemons ( my phone won't do the link any other way) is a prime example of this. For a while now I have been listening to people groan and moan about the ESS, it seems to be working. It is a conflict driver and content creator, we mustn't judge something's worth before it is even released.
