They kill so easily because I can never see where they are. Grenade spam is so prevalent because it is a viable method of killing folks, and why? Because you can't see the bloody things! Whoever makes claims that somehow this makes grenades more useful or the like... I can't imagine. Being killed by something that you knew was there but couldn't counter it because you didn't know where it was makes it a cheap tactic, where you feel you've been cheated. If you want to use an explosive stealthily, that's what remotes are for, and they are balanced in the fact they can't be spammed (take too long to put each one down) and the fact they have a sense of tactics. When you shoot someone these days, their first reaction will be to start throwing grenades at you. For the people shooting, it's good because it gives them an easy kill without worrying they will shoot you. However it reflects the player mentality that grenades actually work. And guess what, sometimes they do. Such mindless stupidity actually bearing fruit annoys me to no end.
Unfortunately, locus grenades in this game are like snipers - they have no real role on the battlefield, and therefore only decrease the overall enjoyment for everyone. But steps needs to be taken to stop this. You literally cannot see enemy grenades sometimes, even when you're looking right at them.
TL;DR: Can I please see those damn grenades?

The HUD icon that identifies a grenade is enough in most cases. However, sometimes I don't see the icon at all. That's when this is an issue.
If it turns out that the grenade icon isn't always displaying when a grenade is in your field of vision, it's obviously some kind of display bug and needs to be fixed. The grenade icon should always be visible. I would go as far as to suggest that if the grenade isn't in your field of vision, but close enough to be dangerous, the icon should track around the edge of your screen. The icon could stand to be a tad bit larger, possibly with a flashing animation.
I don't agree with the rest of your post, especially about locus grenades having no role.

Pardon me, in my haste to rant on about my distaste about grenades I forgot to clarify - the HUD indicator needs fixing. Right now they don't mark the grenades properly, and at the corners of your screen, is impossible to judge where exactly it is.

You're sounding like a guy that got splattered by locus grenades a lot lately. Tough.
I haven't noticed any major issue with grenade detection or ducking them at all. I do kill a fair amount of folks with them on the other hand. Honesty, I don't see this as a major issue or at least certainly not something that the Devs need to put other fixes on hold to address.

There is definitely some kind of bug with grenades. I've been killed by core locus grenades out to 30+ meters. That's a bug with the grenades or a display bug with the death screen.

It's the death screen, it measures from where your killer was when you died. So if the killer throws a grenade 20m and it it happens to kill you within its 7.5m radius the death screen reads 27m. That doesn't mean the grenade killed you from that far out.
Same thing with remotes, if you ever view the death screen when you get killed at a cannon it will read some crazy #s. I think my longest kill was like 400m with a remote that has a 5m radius. |

Personally I hate it when I am hiding behind a piece of cover and my squad mate sees it so he knows to move away but I get nothing so I die. Is my squadmate the best in the world for not saying anything to me? No, not really. However I think my super soldier from the future would notice a grenade land next to him and sit there for a full 2 seconds. |

Give it a very slight radioactive glow/heat shimmer and good looking trail. I would love to see all the assets in the game have extra finesse to them.
When my ScR overheats, I'd like to see it malfunction by dislodging one of the rifles components. Say a wire/tube or cover dislodges and the merc has to lock it back in.
