It cost just a single level to be able to use them both, about as much SP as I made in a two matches each. When the game came out of beta, it was changed to require 3 levels of Caldari/Minmatar Medium Dropsuit and 1 level in Assault/Logistics suit. Being Mr. Caldari, I haven't used and have not been able to use the Sever in nearly a year. But it is just sitting there, stinking up my loft.
What if each BPO was treated as redeemable ticket? You would be unable to equip it or do anything with it. However, if you were to click "use ticket", the ticket turns into a BPO of a chosen item of the same type. For example, I log in and see that my Exile Assault Rifle, Toxin SMG, Raven Caldari Assault Suit, and Sever Minmatar Logistics Suit have been transformed into Exile Rifle, Toxin Sidearm, Raven Assault Suit, and Sever Logistics. Any fitting I have with those items becomes invalid as they are not weapons anymore but 'tickets' similar to how PLEX work in EVE.
I click on my Exile Rifle and click the pop-up that says "Redeem." I can choose between the Gallente Assault Rifle (please change the name), the Caldari Rail Rifle, the Minmatar Combat Rifle, or the Amarr Scrambler Rifle. Once the choice is made, the ticket is destroyed and I am given a BPO of the item requested. Same would work for Suits. Dren Amarr Heavy becomes a ticket that can be "Redeemed" for a Caldari, Amar, Minmatar, or Gallente Heavy.
Reasons: Every BPO in this game represents real money put into the game, often in good faith. I trusted CCP that the game would get past beta, a risk many people have been burned on when it comes to other games. Being able to make my Exile Assault Rifle (seriously, new name) into the Caldari equivalent is in the line of racial parity. It doesn't introduce other BPO's into the game; it just creates a variety of what those BPO's are.
Making the ticket bond on account but the weapon able to be traded (or vice versa) would limit the total proliferation of the tickets. I have something that is easier to be done(from programing perspective):
- Open market.
Short and simple, we need to have player marked in order to sell unused BPO and buy those which we desire ;). I am not a supporter of temporary solutions - I want CCP to spend their precious time to deliver to use something that is solid.
I'm here since may 2012, my EVE alter ego is Nosum Hseebnrido.
