When the game was still in beta, I bought the Sever and the Raven suit. There was only one Assault Suit and only one Logistics Skill so it was easy enough. It cost just a single level to be able to use them both, about as much SP as I made in a two matches each. When the game came out of beta, it was changed to require 3 levels of Caldari/Minmatar Medium Dropsuit and 1 level in Assault/Logistics suit. Being Mr. Caldari, I haven't used and have not been able to use the Sever in nearly a year. But it is just sitting there, stinking up my loft.
What if each BPO was treated as redeemable ticket? You would be unable to equip it or do anything with it. However, if you were to click "use ticket", the ticket turns into a BPO of a chosen item of the same type. For example, I log in and see that my Exile Assault Rifle, Toxin SMG, Raven Caldari Assault Suit, and Sever Minmatar Logistics Suit have been transformed into Exile Rifle, Toxin Sidearm, Raven Assault Suit, and Sever Logistics. Any fitting I have with those items becomes invalid as they are not weapons anymore but 'tickets' similar to how PLEX work in EVE.
I click on my Exile Rifle and click the pop-up that says "Redeem." I can choose between the Gallente Assault Rifle (please change the name), the Caldari Rail Rifle, the Minmatar Combat Rifle, or the Amarr Scrambler Rifle. Once the choice is made, the ticket is destroyed and I am given a BPO of the item requested. Same would work for Suits. Dren Amarr Heavy becomes a ticket that can be "Redeemed" for a Caldari, Amar, Minmatar, or Gallente Heavy.
Reasons: Every BPO in this game represents real money put into the game, often in good faith. I trusted CCP that the game would get past beta, a risk many people have been burned on when it comes to other games. Being able to make my Exile Assault Rifle (seriously, new name) into the Caldari equivalent is in the line of racial parity. It doesn't introduce other BPO's into the game; it just creates a variety of what those BPO's are.
Making the ticket bond on account but the weapon able to be traded (or vice versa) would limit the total proliferation of the tickets. |

Not at all. I am asking that I be able to use my BPO's that I won't skill into or use because of my chosen race by making them my race's variants. Even IF there was a scenario where one was overpowered, it would just mean that the ticket is redeemed once and the person is stuck with that weapon. After the balance is restored, the person would be unable to reclaim the ticket.
So even if it was abused, it would be only abused for as long as it took for the patch to come out. In all honesty, speaking with complete truth, I do not see how this could be a problem. Perhaps you can think of a scenario? |

Ivy Zalinto wrote: This is actually a very good idea. Assuming that once you redeem the ticket, it can no longer be redeemed again, a one time option to switch suits. Gallente scout suit was the scout i was interested in back when i first started playing, but Im loving the caldari tech that is in eve online and in dust 514. If something like this existed, I would gladly spec into caldari scout suits to be my proper factions scout, rather than a caldari using a gallente suit. +1 to this topic and hope that ccp actually reads this.
Of course. Once redeemed, the ticket would be destroyed.

This doesn't change the fact that I have an Exile Assault Rifle, Sever Logistics suit, Dren Logistics/Sentinel/Scout that I will never use. Being able to turn them into my race's (Caldari) equivalent would put them to use. As I said, I believe tickets should be account bound while the items redeemed should be able to be traded. This lets players trade on the open market without people just keeping tickets.
As mentioned above, I don't want it because "eww, Assault Rifle sucks! I want Combat Rifle!!!" I would like it because it would mean that these items would have actual use to me. Being able to trade and sell the items would be nice but being able to turn my Sever suit into a Caldari one and utilize it would be so much more attractive to me. |

Making the ticket bond on account but the weapon able to be traded (or vice versa) would limit the total proliferation of the tickets. I have something that is easier to be done(from programing perspective): - Open market. Short and simple, we need to have player marked in order to sell unused BPO and buy those which we desire ;). I am not a supporter of temporary solutions - I want CCP to spend their precious time to deliver to use something that is solid.
Being able to change my BPO's into something I will use is not antithetical to the open market. Being able to trade it now is just me trading away an Exile Assault Rifle. Being able to redeem the items into something that I can use OR sell seems to me as a better choice.
Yes, player market is important but this is a separate issue completely. I cannot get a Caldari Basic Logistics BPO... but I can get a Minmatar Logistics BPO. I cannot get an Amarr Scout BPO... but I can get a Gallente Scout BPO. Being able to turn my BPO's into something I can use doesn't end up hurting the economy because it is not creating additional BPO's. These are ones that I bought in order to do a specific role but the system was changed to make it more costly to side train other race's logistics/assault suits.
The 'Ticket System' is not a solution to the "what the heck am I going to do with 7 Dragonfly Scouts?", it is just a suggestion to make BPO's that were bought useful to the people that bought them.
Thank you for the posts everyone. |
