im sooo tired right now but what do you guys think?
if it went in the weapon slot it would stop real logis also being massive dps dealers but still allow them to tank their suits. i dunno im just frustrated with the proposed changes iguess. i wana be on the frontline repping my team pushing them to victory, not spamming equipment, infact i dont think anyone LIKES spamming equipment, its just effective thats all.
ok,im getting a bit oout there now but what if we got rid of nanohives and uplinks, and instead had logis dispense the nanites to each person directly and the uplinks could work like a cyno field that u activate and boom,u have back up.

Maybe increase weapon requirements for logis, give us a side arm slot, allow us to fit equipment to the sidearm slot! I'm just spit balling, myself.

Ive thought of this too. You have to give up weapon slots in Eve if you wanna run reps.

Rep Tools are getting a range nerf. Rep Tools don't deal damage. Having a Rep Tool as a light weapon would be a waste of a light weapon slot. Most logistics suits lack a sidearm slot, so how would they defend themselves? Get rid of Nanohives and Uplinks? Are you high my good sir? Why in the absolute kitten did you even suggest this?

Rep tools in the light weapon slot: The only way I could see this working is if the rep tool could deal damage (% damage dealt would have to be discussed at length to stop it from being OP) to the enemy as well as repair friendly troops. Otherwise how would a logi defend himself, or even attempt to clear the area before going in for the revive and rep when all the front line guys are down?

You have obviously never played as a proper healer logi if you can suggest to remove what little offensive capability a logistics has.
I will say however that it would be EVE like if the logistics gave up any weaponry for logi work, however IF we were to forfeit our weapons, I want the level of logistics that a Scimitar gets in EVE for my Minmatar Logi.
So that means a very high base speed, great tank, a tiny profile and HUGE healing capability. If we got all of that, yes sure I would give up my weapon. However I would still require a sidearm as this is an FPS - not EVE Online. However an interesting thought. |

It will have slightly less range and less rep on the core focused. All the tools will have a shorter range, but, they will get a buff to repair, minus the core focused (As it is the only one having its rep rate lowered while the rest are staying put). Of course, this is only in relation to the Min Logi, the rest shall suffer in comparison.

I'd be down with these ideas. Especially the rep tool in a weapon slot. Maybe buff it a little more so that it's worth it but I like the idea for sure. |

No sympathy, sorry. Weapons deal damage. Rep Tools don't deal damage. Therefore, it can't ever be classified as a light weapon. Where else do you think CCP should put the Rep Tool? The grenade slot? Throw it at a dude and the splash damage heals the guy?

If we just remove the ability to fit damage mods, it could mitigate slayer logis, though they could still fit proto weapons easier. As a logi, I don't think there's a single true logi who would stay logi if they removed our weapons, you may as well remove logistics period. |

No clone should be without defense.
Putting the repper in the sidearm slot though would be nice. So every logi would have the ability to heal (except the amarr, who would have to choose betwheen sidearm and repper).
Bonus wise, I would give the Assaults a PG CPU reduction to damage mods. Problem solved.

While logis should not be as good as dealing damage as assaults, they should be able to try the slayer role if they want to (as long as assaults are still better at it). Likewise, If an assault wants to try the support role, they should be able to (as long as logis are still better at it). No one would ever use the rep tool if it required giving up your weapon, and basically screw the Minmatar logi which is about to receive a bonus to it. All suits need to be able to defend themselves, we are fighting in a battlefield.

07 I can tank my logi, run full proto equipment and still fit an ADV CR on an M/1 Logi.
If I am running this fit, I generally only bring out the CR to finish off the asshat who managed to kill my pet heavy.
There is no reason to swap the reps leash to a light weapon slot.

U just stated the reason... though the cr does have low pg/cpu cost.
But chill for a minute and think about it guys. U would now have a light and side arm if you wanted to build an assault fit or solo flanker style logi. But like alaika said if ur only busting out ur weapon in emergencies then wouldn't a side arm be enough just to finish off that one guy before rezzing ur heavy?
I'm also imagining an eve style bonus that increases the range and let's you stay further from the fight making u less of an imediate target.
But Ideally just make it like eve with high, med, and low slots. lows stay low, current highs become mediums, and weapon and equipment go in the high slots, with a limit on how many of each type of weapon the suit can fit.
Eg. Assault = 1L, 2S, 0H
Heavy = 1L, 2S, 1H

"Injects and overcharges reactive nanites in the clone's dropsuit. Using intelligent nanites, allies and foes are detected, when injecting nanites which then either degenerate or repair armour. This tool is effective at keeping your allies alive in battle, or as a close range saboteur tool.
Developed by the nomadic minmatar, this device was used to quickly break down equipment into a compact form, then to rebuild using a skeleton when constructing camp. During the rise of the minmatar they noticed it was also effective at breaking down armour, and reconstructing it while on the move, and since, it has been both a logistics tool, as well as a close rang offensive tool".
But yeah, it would be fun to have it break down enemy's armour when they get too close, and can make it a pretty deadly anti vehicle tool. |

I wasn't imagining any negative effects from the tool, but it could be interesting if it stole armor, leaving you standing there in your underwear with full shields. :-)

You onlybassume those opposed to loosing a light slot are slayer logis because? If you take a light slot logi units loose there ability for supporting fire, they loose their ability to participate in battle all together. CCP have already got a fix for 1.8, Logistics units are gonna recieve PG/CPU akin to Assaults and bonuses to equipment. Logistics won't be capable of brick tanking full prot, meanwhile Assault classes get a reduction to weapons so they can fully outfit in proto.
Logistics should still fight and still kill regularl, they just shouldn't be the best for the Job.

As I mentioned earlier they would have a sidearm , grenades, and even explosives if u still felt underpowered. Has noone ever used an ammar logi with swarms.? Same deal.
But I'm about ready to let this idea die, not much usefull input and seems to be angering my logi brethren. I woulda played it like a troll thread if I knew u guys were gunna get so worked up :-)

What I would go for is an optional "heavy repair tool" that went in the light weapon slot, while keeping the current repair tools in the equipment slots.
Something that could pull a stunt like 300hp/s focused repair or 50 hp/s on 6 targets at a time.
Make it logi exclusive somehow, logis get the option of trading their ability to shoot for crazy team healing capabilities |
