Agreed. It's rather annoying and now that I have the ability, i'm going to try and capture it on video. I try my best to always put my body between the most recent threat and merc so my rep tool gives him a chance and my body can cushion him until he's able to move and we can get away together. Suddenly ending up on top of him or behind him is rather disorienting. Unless the merc can just wake up, throw me over his shoulder and carry me to cover as i continue to heal him. I'd down with that.
Also, the sticky icon with no body. hate it...

I have some better examples but I have been doing a poor job of sorting through my library and properly naming things. I have hours to weed through but you can see how my own body gets lifted when the merc below me gets revived. It's random with how they are moving versus how I am moving on which side I'll end up landing (in front of them, side of them, behind them, etc).
Also, the sticky icon. I hate it. Fix it.

Auorra wrote:Is this similar to moving up to a dead unit with a revive marker on them counting down and no matter where you stand, you cannot revive the dead unit either by the O pad or selecting an injector manually and hitting R1? I am getting this error a lot lately. It's annoying in that not only can you not revive the target, but you are easily made a target this way. It's gotten me killed more than once when I could have revived and moved away if the revive had worked properly.
Not similar but is another problem. In most cases of being a good logi, the job is to revive and immediately get a rep tool on the person. I'll clear the room first, but I'll still put my body between the downed merc and where the last threat was so if possible, I can soak up any damage while me and the now revived merc move to cover. However, that is completely negated when you revive a merc and they lift and move you off the ground because they're standing up UNDERNEATH you. That's the leapfrog he's talking about.
What you're talking about is a completely different glitch. There are many with revives:
- sticky icon where body is long gone and person is spawned but the icon remains
- icon and dead body are not where the actual body is. Sometimes the ragdoll will throw a person violently and the area where it 'believes' the merc died is not where the body/icon is claiming to show you. That's when you sometimes get the icon to press 'O' to revive even tho there's no one there.
- revive on 'O' fails. This is what you're talking about and forces you to have to switch to a needle manually. It's very annoying as it does delay time. I also just did this last night where 'O' failed so I manually stabbed him 3 times but no revive.
- last but not least, revive into the floor. I really really really hate this one. I feel like a complete tool when I clear the room, revive the merc and they're halfway through the floor. I've basically signed him to his death when I actually did my job correctly.
All of these things haven't prevented me from using my needle, but I'm much more conservative with my needles now. Most of the time, I'll see a downed merc and I won't get him because its just too risky. Then someone will go for it because points. I immediately put my rep tool on them to try and save the merc.
My rule of thumb tho: If you don't have a rep tool, don't needle someone.
The only exception to that rule is if you're in a squad with a logi and use that needle to help me and the team while I'm always there to keep up the reps. Otherwise, you're just dooming someone to death twice and that's really inconsiderate.
