I spawned on a point where someone did this just today. This is a sore point and shows your experience right there. Nothing worse than spawning in a point with your back to the enemy.
I run uplinks often and take note of where mine are. If my team has so many out that I'm actually for a loss of where mine are, I don't bother bringing out more. It doesn't do my team any good and just causes server lag. I'll swtich to carrying ammo on me for my team. However, if uplinks are few or far between, its easy to see where yours are and if they are still active. I don't bother counting or checking while in battle. I only take note of uplinks when I die. When you have to spawn back in and you notice they are sparse and the ones remaining are not yours, that's when I bring them back out for more.

Sometime I want to move one of mine for much he same reason as yours. I put one down then and look on the map and find that five minues later that others have placed half a dozen next to mine so it's time to move the link elsewhere. And it would be handy if one can get new uplinks from somewhere. Any suggestion?

As someone else said, you can only get them on a fresh suit and I prefer not to stack my uplinks really. I know lots of people that claim they can put down up to 6+ uplinks at a time. I find that a little overkill and not necessarily helping the team if you know others are also probably going to be putting them down. I run 2 at most and live with it.
For 'moving' your uplink, be aware that if I took my dropsuit and put down 2 uplinks, then went to a supply depot and got the same suit with 2 more of the SAME uplinks and put them down, they replace the ones I already have out. And in the order I dropped them.
So...
Drop 1. Drop 2. Get suit again. Drop 3 -> replaces Drop 1. Drop 4 -> replaces Drop 2.
However, if you are dropping more because someone killed one. Then they are not replaced.
Drop 1. Drop 2. Get suit again. Someone destroyed Drop 1. Drop 3 to replace Drop 1 and Drop 2 remains where it is.

That is a gripe many of us share. Not only improvement to the overall HUD but an indicator on screen that tells us what direction (N, NW, NE, etc) we're currently traveling in. It's not only useful to our own orientation, but in communicating with team as well. Being able to tell someone enemy heading NE from objective A is a powerful form of communication a lot of us desire.

Endurance would be useful as it would help me get get across those wide open bits of land.
And, er, guess what I found the other day -- the Sprint function. I didn't realise that if one mashed the left hand joystick (though my wife suggest that the size wouldn't) that one sprinted. That was a nice surprise. Now I can die in more remote locations...

Hah! Yeah, sprinting is rather helpful. Also, just note that obviously sprinting uses stamina but so does jumping. And if you fall from a very high height, you do not recover stamina. You only recover stamina with your feet on the ground.
