Quick question. If the goal of skirmish is to hold the most null cannons for a period of time, and reds will without question try to hack said null cannons, why do very few people actually defend null cannons? I don't understand why people think that going in a group of 12 for 1 objective at a time is necessary. Now I fancy myself relatively competent, but usually I'm the only line of defense when said trucks of 10 reds come riding up on my point. I may be able to take out 3-6 of them tops before being overwhelmed, but if there were just 1 or 2 more players with me, that point would damn near impenetrable.
I find it much easier to play Home Alone and work to keep out invaders on my own familiar ground, but I'm starting to feel crazy for trying. Should I really keep throwing away my suits defending a point my team doesn't care enough to look over? Should I just walk around with the other blues in the eternal conga line of hacking? I swear I'm going to write something positive on here soon, but these past few days have been rooooough. |

Cyrius Li-Moody wrote:in most pub matches its less about strategy and more about the zerg. The Zerg wins all. Well, that is unless the other team's zerg is faster/strong than your zerg.
You really only see people defending points from teams who actually know what they're doing. Point defense is a boring job. Sometimes nobody will come to your objective for half a match so you spend it twiddling your thumbs waiting to pounce. Most people find that boring and just want to be high up on the kill board rather than securing a victory.
I like point defense but I'll generally pick a point that's high traffic rather than outlying point.
Perhaps it's just specific to me. I'm on the losing team around 80-90% of the time (just going to pretend it has nothing to do with me >_>) so a zerg on the point I'm defending is guarantee at least 2 to 3 times per skirmish. I think because I have the experience, I know which point is most likely to be target at certain times, but I find playing defense properly tends to have just as much, if not more action. Plus it's usually on my terms. But numbers win man, and that's where my frustrations kicks in.
God I need a new mic, this solo stuff is a nightmare at low levels.
P.S. even though I'm not a scout, half of the techniques I picked up from scouting were from your video, so many thanks. |

Okay, this making skirmish sound like the biggest effort in futility I've ever seen.
Blue zerg gets A and B, Red zerg gets C and D, Blue zerg rushes C, Red zerg rushes A, Blue zerg rushes back to A, Red zerg rushes back C, face off, everyone's dead, the cycle starts again at different points.... I think my nose is bleeding.
And I'm pretty sure I used 'zerg' wrong every single time this post. |
