I made this character less than a week ago and mind you, this is like the 4th time I've redone a character because I hated where I was putting my SP at. I finally got this character fairly close to what I want it to be. I even got some active and passive boosters. So I started putting points mainly at speed (because this character is a Scout and all). All I did was basically put my beginning points into Light Drop Suit Level 1 and Put the rest on to the skill tree for speed (which only made it to level 4). So little by little I started spending points on shield and little things here and there to raise my CPU and PG. Finally though I decided I was going to be dedicated enough and just save 310,000 SP for the final level of Kinetic Upgrades (or whatever its called to increase Sprint Speed by 5%).
I finally got to 196,000 and.... now I'm getting a lame amount of SP per match because.. I haven't been killing much....
:(
Should I just put these points into something else and save up again when the week is over? Or should I put up the good fight and keep at it?

What scout suit are you running?
Well honestly right now I'm not running a Scout suit. I'm running Minmatar Light Suit (the basic one).

Make a SP allocation plan and stick with it, don't sway. Here is a cool skill planner that I use to plan out where I put my points https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=89036
Oh sweet!!! I'll check it out... Oh and it's EVERY WEDNESDAY? Not 7 Days??? NICE!!

yeah I'm totally going for profile dampering as well but maybe in the future after Biotics.

Yay! New players are picking up on the difference! Now if only we can get people to start differentiating between "Heavy" and "Sentinel"
LOL I did A LOT of research.... I mean A WHOLE ******* LOT. I know investing in these characters takes a lot of time so, you're damn right i'm going to pick up on this lol.

Tip for profile dampening: Do the math before you spec into it. The only reason to dampen is to avoid active scanners. Most proto scanners are 28 dB, the new scout profile signature is going to be 35dB. Basically whichever is lower wins. The new cloaking device coming to scouts will apply a 25% reduction when activated though, so 25% off 35dB is 26.25dB so right there you beat most proto scanners. Basically just look at some precision stats and look at what you need to do to beat them and how much you're willing to sacrifice to beat them as far as module slots go. Same goes for when you get around to upgrading your Dropsuit Electronics and Dropsuit Engineering skills, which increase your CPU and PG. Do the math to see what you need before speccing into it.
Yeah great tip, I realized this time around when starting this character that I need to learn from my mistakes in order to know what I should even Spec in. Profile Dampening is definitely one of them, but somehow with my Biotics at Level 4 I'm able to out run most shots being fired at me.. unless the dude is too good with his aim, but I know Profile Dampening is going to be super important for me even more now because whats getting me killed when I'm about to pop someone is getting scanned by someone else.
I have to be honest I don't know how these Scouts do it with their knives lol I kind of prefer my shotgun.

That is a good tip, but yeah by now.. I've learned more or less what I want to do. So I'm just sticking with this one and the first character I made as well... because for my first character there's a chance that they'll be a respec and I just have him there to respec already.

Emperor1349 wrote:There is no maximum skill points spent. So I have always wondered why make a new character instead of just investing towards a new tree? I have alts that I test weapons and suits on as well, but if your going to switch your focus, isnt it better to use your main? (also good reason to go for dropsuit upgrades). It may hurt you in the end having spead your skill points out, but any amount of of sp in usefull skills is better than a fesh start, right?
You're right absolutely. Thats why I'm not making any new characters anymore. I just needed to have a good enough start with what I'm playing. So thats why I made this dude just like that.
P.S. Totally respect your use of REs. ******* brilliant!
