I am currently a New player in the Dust 514 community and I drifted over here after the MAG server shutdown considering my favorite game got tons of neglect. Well I jump into this game and get pretty good first impressions till I pass the academy. From what I have gathered it seems you make skill points no matter what. Which I liked at first until I realize that I will never be able to compete with higher level players considering I am forced into matches with them every game. In the end, I think this game has tons of potential but I am not sure if its quite ready for a new player market yet, I have no options to avoid these Players which in the end always leads me to a spawn camped defeat.
The introduction to the game mentioned doing some sort of drone infestation game mode but I can't find it anywhere... The only thing that makes sense to me is that its not out yet which for me hurts the game even more considering every single game mode I play is my team being surrounded at our spawn base by tanks, and infantry.
This is a cool game but seriously need some love for us new players. |

Squads are pretty necessary unless scout. actually been with one earlier but I quickly disbanded because they never stood a chance against anyone. Also Have a hard time getting into Corporations when they find out I am a new player, in which I get removed within the hour. So far not having alot of luck with the player community. |

We'll teach you how to play, and everything. EDIT: And about SP, all you really need is about 12-15 mil SP, and you're set in Dust. Anything else is just for extra roles. I appreciate that man.. Totally will. |

THEAMAZING POTHEAD wrote:Once you get proto suits and a couple of complex modules you'll have suits pretty much as good as anyone elses.
But even thats not necessary, all you really need is proto weapon with proficiency 3 or higher. From there you'll compete with anyone, especially if you play smart, like flanking, using scanners, grenades, or stacking as many armor plates as possible to level out your EHP vs a protos to be even in 1 on 1s.
Once you have 6 mil sp, you could have a proto gallente logi suit w/ proto RR or CR or ScR proficiency 3 with complex damage mods and complex armor plates with a few hundred thousand SP leftover. Then you'd dominate 90% of the protos out there.
Problem is new players waste too much SP trying stuff out and don't have the patience for saving up for proto, meanwhile a lot of us got the respec at uprising and went straight proto, which then changed our mentality into something like "Proto or No Go".
So ya, basically there really needs to be another full respec to help new players now, and the implementation of a one time respec at 7 million SP for new characters. My only complain is that months of playing. By that time your no longer a new player and It took me like 2 months on my previous character before I deleted him in open beta to gain anywhere near 1 million SP |
