I don't understand the crying about the Mass Driver. It might be that I've had extensive experience, but it's never been a TERRIBLE weapon. Even when it was super-gimped back in Uprising 1.2 or whatever, I could use it on my Gallente Logistics and dominate the field. The problem is, and it's not even a problem as much as it is something people don't understand, is that it takes a lot of skill to use in certain situations. Unless you do what Deadly does, and stack Complex Damage Mods with an Assault Mass Driver, you need to train with it a little bit for it to be very effective.
When I have my PS3 available to me again, I'll look at the Mass Driver. I'll run a Proto Mass Driver with 3 Basic Damage Mods on my Gallente Logistics (maybe 3 Enhanced, but Basics are more likely so I can fit my ADV Logi-Gear and Hives). I'll (maybe) post my K/D and other statistics here, along with scenarios where I worked really well, and scenarios where I think the Mass Driver SHOULD'VE done better, but didn't. Stay tuned. Maybe. Because I might forget about this thread all together. :P

Also, you might be using it wrong for it's intended role. Run this fit:
Gallente Medium Frame G/1-Series (ADV) 1x EX0-5 Mass Driver All high slots with Enhanced Damage Mods (yey) 1x Enhanced Armor Plate* 1x Enhanced Reactive Armor Plate* 1x Enhanced Armor Repairer* 1x Advanced Nanite Injector OR Remote Explosives** 1x Locus Grenade
I think I got the slot counts right there. I dunno.
*This blend of plates and reps will give you a good amount of HP, as well as a decent amount of regenerative capability. I never run an Assault fit of any kind without a similar setup to this. Even my Gallente Logistics has 2 Complex Plates, 2 Complex Reactives, and 1 Enhanced Armor Repairer (I don't have complex reps D:).
**Choice between Nanite Injector or Explosives is a choice between defensive and offensive. I suggest going with the Nanite Injector, as it will allow you to better be a defense and area denial fighter. I once held off an objective with my squad using a Mass Driver. Got a decent amount of kills, and if any of them died, I could bring them back up. If you use Explosives, however, you can be a little more aggressive about point defense. Place an RE on a doorway, wait for them to walk through, make them feel sorry for it. The downside is you can only do that for a short amount of time, unless you have a resupplier with you.
Run that. Don't focus on killing as much as you focus on defending from intruders and making sure your squad is kept alive. If you're in a city map, use a Mass Driver to flush them out of cover. Don't go for kills, go for either defense OR offense. But not killing offense. Does this make any sense?
1) Defend a point from above.
OR
2) Flush people out of a place so your squadmates can clean up the mess.
