Hi! Newberry here, aproaching 1.5m sp, focusing on assault. The one who takes and defends objectives you know. I play domination games most of the time, due too the fast pace and focused gunfights. Mix in some skirmish now and then.
Not having a mic seems to not be so good for my experience in this game, altough I am fully capable of listening and following orders per voice and on screen, no goddamn squad wants me. And if I'm lucky enough to find a squad the ******* squadleader dont give any orders at all, one squad i joined farmed the other teams spawn point one entire match... guess what, we lost that one because noone cared about the objective.
Coming from Eve I know goddamned well that teamplay is the key too success. And just like in Eve KDR is something that I dont care much for, unless we are close to cloning out ourselves. I dont think there would be such a big problem with "protostomping" if we could work together.
I guess finding a corp is the only way around this. Or stepping up to the lead and make my own squad.
By the way, I might be the only one, but I bought my ps3 with the only purpose of playing this game. |

First of all, welcome to DUST 514! I hope you'll like it here, despite the game's faults.
But to tackle the topic at hand, I don't think the issue really is that you can't talk. I have many friends who have never had mics, but still wreck matches and work well in a team whenever they are there. The problem is most likely that you are new and making newbie mistakes, which makes people wary of being with you. As you said it yourself, joining a player corp helps a lot in these kind of situations, as are the myriad of channels were people with certain playstyles/dropsuits gather up.
I'd recommend you join some of the corp channels for simply squadding up with people there and getting to know them. My personal favorites are Onslaught Pub and Scouts United, there's always a bunch of good people there at any give time!

Would be good to know what mistakes that I am doing. I always try to be around blueberrys defending or trying to overrun the objective, not reviving when reds are around. Half the time I shoot from cover but on occasion I run into the fire and die like the shithead I should :) Not dropping uplinks like a madman, sometimes i drop a nanohive but mostly for myself, but I rarely get to use up all my ammo... |

you can join my channel TB AIRLINES we have a few in there that are team players or join our squad frome there, we sometimes use a dropship to transport infantry, also dropship gunners are in demand there if you have the patience for it. you don't really need a mic with us we just play pub matches right now and are not super intense about them

most people are just in squads to chat with each other and get orbitals, they don't work together
I personally like to get a tight squad and defend one objective, I think a squad should always be together, thats why its called a squad.
join this chat channel "the learning coalition"
when I see you on there we will squad up, I run tight squads, I had the same problem as you when I first started the game, after a while you will find goo squadmates, it takes time. |

Hey join our corp or our chat channel Alliance Hub. We are not a big corp so we always squad. We usually play around 00:00 and beyond until our CEO is tired of squad leading. Mail me if you want to be invited if our time works for you . If you need training join Learning Coilition, you can always squad with us even if you are not in our corp just join our chat channel. By the way we use mics so we highly suggest you get one too, but if not it's okay just stay near us.
Love, Hate, and everything in between.

Thanks for the response so far, there is hope for some good teamplay! I will definately join learning coalition.
While I still have your attention I would like to have your opinion on my dropsuit-fitting, still in my starter suit with 2 enhanced armor plates one basic rep, assault rifle, submachine gun, locus nades, equipment changes but most of the times a needle.
With this fitting I can take a pounding but feel that the rep is slow, takes so long to get back into the fight, and most of the time I dont have the patience to wait. And then Im dead..

you did it right by skilling up your armor plates before getting a new suit
it follows the same mentality as EVE- getting the next tier ship/suit before you have the skills to support it is a mistake
also the compact nanohive reps you and is very easy to skill into and easy to fit but is limited in it's duration.
