Saw somewhere that someone said the most recent high for playercount was around 55K with EVE. Just logged in and it said 59185.
I would rather die my way than live by yours.

Numbers with EVE don't really mean anything for us. Currently there are 4229 people online playing Dust, which is still pretty high relative to what we've been hitting, which has been around 3000 for several months. Curious to see how long this active player spike holds up.

Today's count is probably because it's the first Sunday after the batttle at B-R5RB which made the RL news sites. Sunday is always the day most people log on in the week, and there'll be new players who've seen the news and are checking it out. Likely the numbers will drop again within a few weeks, although some might stay.
I can't help but wonder what would happen to the player count if Dust had something that could make the international news, even if it was just the gaming sites. The problem is we don't really have the ability for anything big at the moment. And with the dust and eve markets still not linked, we can't even say '(x amount of RL money) was lost in the game today'.
When I play as a sniper, I'm more likely to be nearer to the opponents redline than my own.

B-R5 will cause an EVE side player spike and I would say that because EVE is in DUST's name it may pop up on a search engine. Whatever, more is good. Also, a PS3 is a gateway to New Eden and can be used to hit an EVE chat room for free, it doesn't need an EVE account.
