Name: Hawkeye Occultus.
Sex: Male.
Race: Gallente.
Bloodline: Ethnic Gallente.
A very brief description:
A 27 year-old coffee fuelled professional killer who can't tell the difference between a scarf and a shawl; but still insists that both of those things are a pretty neat idea.
He doesn't really have a strong allegiance to any of the big 4 empires; but has a very slight leaning towards the Ammarians.
Other items of note:
* Primarily fulfils the role of Heavy Infantry.
* At one point, genuinely believed there was an intricate conspiracy between the Lai Dai corporation and FedMart to take over New Eden's supply of Synthetic Coffee.

How is that going to work, they're not for interstellar travel, or even entering an atmosphere, they're open vehicles with no sealed compartments whatsoever. You mentioned previously that we're all still in the Summit, which would be in Yulai, at the core of highsec. Not even Blood Raiders are dumb enough to assault through dozens of jumps in Amarr/Minmatar highsec to get into Yulai, CONCORD's home system. maybe a transport shuttle would be a better idea which brings us into a ship?
It could be similar to how the troops on the "Immortal" trailer (at 1:18 - 1:40) were deployed. It can be clearly seen that the smaller troop transport deployed from the larger Jump Capable "mothership" before entering the atmosphere.
Also, just pointing this out now rather than later, I'm fairly sure that all our dropsuits are suable for use in a hard vacuum.

Also, just pointing this out now rather than later, I'm fairly sure that all our dropsuits are suable for use in a hard vacuum. My understanding has always been that dropsuits have filtration systems to make toxic airs breathable, but they don't have oxygen tanks to survive in a vaccuum. And the "mothership" is a Coercer destroyer, attacked by Minmatar Rifter frigates. It's hardly even mothership size when compared to Titans, or any supercap. And the smaller craft attached to it seems like an Amarr shuttle or transport ship, but it isn't any existing model in the game. In any case, that's more along the lines what I was thinking, where we would be picked up by a shuttle which we would use to reach the destination. There isn't a need for a larger ship, as all spaceships have warp capability, prime method of travel between star systems for non-capital ship classes is done by the use of jumpgates, which rely on external technology.
When I said "mothership" I was referring to it's actual definition, rather than the ship class in EVE.

And I wander if the depleted uranium would glow? Meh I'd brather it be a slightly lighter gray DU doesn't glow. The flakes and dust are pretty sketchy...they usually limit our exposure to it unless we are on full combat loads. So his lines are likely to contrast white or grey on the black of his armour? Perhaps. The DU i've been around is a very dark grey, almost black. Against a true black it would probably give a noticeable two-tone scheme. Probably pretty boss looking. I suspect for the application we're talking about the textures would also help provide some contrast and color is negotiable on most items anyway.
Depleted Uranium does have a nasty habit of exploding when you crush it.

He is basically using Depleted Uranium as war paint. I prefer the Prussian Blue hue of lapis lazuli myself.

That given the radioactivity of it is low prolonged exposure might give you cancer but we are immortal so fudge it. I was just joking about the glowing thing. Also we use it in m1 Abrams tanks as armor and armor piercing rounds for the m4 and other weapon systems. I'm still a little sketchy on using that stuff as a mortal though
DU is Pyrophoric; meaning that it undergoes spontaneous combustion under certain conditions, such as when a lot of kinetic energy is put into a projectile of DU then it encounters an obstacle.
The combustion of DU is explosively fast, and is favoured as an armour-piercing round because when it fractures, it does so in a way that it remains sharp, plus the high temperature combustion has the possibility of causing the vehicle it is being shot at to explode by igniting the fuel tanks.
By the very same token, if you used it as an armour; and someone shot you; you would either burn to death or explode, depending on the energy of the shot and how much DU is in your amour.
Also, DU is really heavy, so it's a stupid thing to use in armour anyway.

Jacques Cayton II wrote:So why does the us army put it in the front of tanks for armor?
The way that DU armour works is by these 2 mechanisms:
First, due to the density and toughness of DU; it requires quite a bit of effort to get through it.
Secondly, it is sandwedged between 2 steel plates, when an armour-piercing round hits the DU plate, the explosion causes the AP round to fail either by causing the shaped charge to detonate prematurely, or by melting the solid penetrator. This works very similarly to Explosive Reactive Armour (which also defeats AP rounds by exploding).

It depends how good your suit's protection is. Usually only heavy suits can survive Proximity Explosive detonations, when augmented with some protection, such as armour plates. Lower grade suits need more protection.
If you put LOTS of armour plates and shield reinforcements; it is possible to *just* survive an actual Remote Explosive. My guy can do this, but it leaves him with about 15 Armour HP.
For comparison:
All Remote Explosives deal 1 500 damage.
All proximity Explosives deal 750 damage.
Most likely though, yes; you will have painted the checkpoint a nice hue of crimson.

But tanks spread their weight over a large area with caterpillar tracks. I just have a pair of legs with a comparably smaller area to put weight on, and the combined mass of my suit and equipment is very high. Like, over a 1 000 kg (thank god for the exoskeleton's lifting power)
One time, I was on this really cold planet, I think it may have been almost entirely covered in ice. I stopped to rest, have a nap, and when I woke up a blizzard had buried me under half a metre of snow. I did have a bit of fun when the other guys that accepted the contract located the general area of my beacon though. This guy in a scout suit, shivering like a broken motor, walks over me; so I grabbed his leg and pulled him under.

Yeah, but in a blizzard, you can't see anything -not even your hand- unless it's right against your face. Sensors aren't that good either unless you are carrying a dedicated active scanner.
Additionally, a problem encountered in Minmatar suits in these places is that it gets so cold that the hydraulic fluid (used by everything apart from the light frames, which are basically just duct tape) freezes (not helped by the fact that the hydraulics are un-insulated), immobilizing the user.
Suits manufactured by other parties don't get this problem for various reasons.
* Gallente suits use artificial muscles (some fancy ferro-fibres).
* Caldari have some pretty neat servos that use contactless bearings (ELECTROMAGNETS! YEAH!).
Don't know what the Amarrian suits use, but it is augmented by the divine will of god, and therefore superior in every way.

Well... Space is a near-perfect vacuum (unless you are in a nebula or dense gas cloud), so the only way heat will get away is via radiation, which is quite slow compared to conduction (heat transfer by physical contact) and convection (heat transfer by moving gasses).
Also, if you altered the climate system, you might be able to keep the fluid liquid, at the expense of causing the user to die of hypothermia.

In the words of Wikipedia "Citation needed" (proof). proofing what that they use the suits in cold climates or the gas operated turrets in space?
Gas-operated weapons work in space. Just ask the Russians.
Most bullets use gunpowder, which is a mixture of compounds that explode, plus an oxidiser. The oxidiser provides the oxygen needed to detonate the gunpowder. From here, the usual gasses are created, and you get a bullet being fired.
This is the chemical equation of black powder being used to fire a gun (NOTE: it is simplified):
2 KNO3 + S + 3 C GåÆ K2S + N2 + 3 CO2. (word equation below)
2 moles of Potassium Nitrate + 1 mole of Sulphur + 3 moles of Carbon GåÆ 1 mole of Potassium Sulphide + 1 mole of Nitrogen gas + 3 moles of Carbon Dioxide gas.
A quick breakdown:
The Potassium Nitrate (solid) provides the oxygen needed to burn the Carbon (solid).
While this is happening, the Sulphur (you guessed it, solid) reacts with the Potassium, removing the nitrogen from it in the process.
At the end of the reaction, you produce the following:
Potassium Sulphide.
Nitrogen (gas)
Carbon Dioxide (gas)
Gasses occupy about 1 000 times more space than when they are solid or liquid; this causes lots of pressure, which forces the bullet out of the barrel.
Due to the fact that in space the pressure differences are greater; the bullet would probably have a much higher kinetic energy too!

Fortunately, the now-removed owner of the complex had installed a large number of bulkheads that could easily be closed, but took forever to open.

Ermac Vesely wrote:Are you sure these guys can carry and shoot a forge gun? I thought they are just a bunch of mortal soldiers and not clones. And not even the 2 clones have the equipment to carry one.
It could be that they use a crew-serviced static emplacement forge gun, carried and operated by a dedicated team. A bit like heavy machine gun teams such as this one.
This overcomes the problem of needing a heavy frame suit to carry/operate the forge gun.

If it's being used as a crew weapon, it's reasonable to assume that some modifications have been performed. Such as lightweight components and a deployable tripod that opens up when they want to deploy the gun.
Also, since there may be a crew of 2-4 people, it'll be a bit easier.

Number 4 could be the communications officer or the guy that command speaks to, since the others are busy doing their things.
He may be the one who digs a hole for the team to hide in for better cover (using explosives, coz shovels suck!), and puts a bunch of sandbags and razor wire around them.
In addition to helping carry the gun, he could also use his own weapon to defend the emplacement from infantry unit heading towards them.

Even as "immortals", most of us have at least some (even if rudimentary) fear of death. Although it is for the most part an irrational fear, there are some things that lend validity to said fears:
A failure may occur in the reanimation process, or your implant signal may not be received (very unlikely, but theoretically possible. Personality back-ups would solve this issue)
Someone with significant power (i.e. CONCORD) may hack/gain access/use existing access to the clone reanimation signal network, and isolate your mind (has happened with a templar or two).
When "you" are reanimated, you are actually still dead, and some imposter has been summoned into existence to imitate you.
This is one of the reasons that you may be reluctant to off yourself.
