We're off the accelerated monthly schedule now that the core is in much better shape. Expect this one to drop in March.
Shanghai gets one long holiday a year and this is it. Not trolling bro, much respect.
But what part of the core is in much better shape?
Unassisted DS3 controls? KB/M controls? Movement/sticking on terrain/objects? Stability? Input Lag/Kinestetics? Gamemodes? Matchmaking? The NPE? Tank spam? Voice comms?
Imo the core has been completely untouched for months. I'm totally onboard with filling out the racial lineups and totally onboard with the vehicle rework also. But by the same token the core FPS mechanics have not changed for months, afaik.
The only change to core mechanics i can recall is Aim Assist/hit detection, which happened at the same time. The hit detection was welcomed by all, the AA is just pasted over the same poor DS3 aiming we always had. On a fundamental core level, DUST has made very little progress over the past year. Much else has changed for the better, but not the core.
I wonder how many of the MAG players are going to give DUST another shot now that their servers are shut down. I wonder how many of those players will reject the game again for the state of it's controls & feel.
I support SP rollover.

I'm not saying the game is anywhere close to perfect but hit detection took multiple passes to get right, a lot of the big crashing bugs have been fixed, lag has mostly been fixed and the vehicle overhaul seems have set us in the right direction. Match making has problems mostly due to low server population, the new player experience needs to be addressed and we have a new problem with redline rail tanks. I think CCP can now focus on refining balance and fixing bugs while adding content instead of remaining in 'emergency mode' trying to keep the client from crashing and enabling players to hit their targets. Ty for the response - i agree with your points here, but i do feel that the core mechanics(aiming(w/o AA), controls, movement, terrain/object interaction and kinesthetics) are still driving players away from the game.
Progress has indeed been made, and CCP deserves recognition for that - my primary concern is that the core FPS mechanics i listed have not received any attention from CCP, and that the quality of those core FPS mechanics are currently a deal-breaker for many players who try DUST and find them unpalatable. In the end, no amount of content, features or even the integration with New Eden will compensate for a poor hands-on shooter experience.
I'm eager to see if 1.8 shows us a focusing of priorities on the real core of the game.
I support SP rollover.
