And you're suggesting that many players do this. There must be a great deal more to this game that I am missing because that is really hardto believe.
I haven't been on in a while but here is my fit from what I remember.

I have run this for a long time. I die once or twice at most a match so I gain isk. Later down the road, I usually spend a few million on goofing around killing myself with friends doing dumb stuff or I give it to someone who needs isk. It takes a while for me to get a few million because around 130K a death and getting around 300K isk average a match means that it takes me a while to save.
People in my corp nag at me to accept my paycheck but I always deny it and say **** your welfare check, I work for a living! I love earning my isk and watch my wallet grow after every match. I goof around a lot and don't care about isk but I manage pretty well in pubs to where my wallet doesn't go broke. The lowest I go is like the few hundreds or thousands but I don't care. I still run proto :P
You can call me a lier but i'm known for being the "poverty man" of my corp :P
Will awoky woky Rampage in PC for Chucky Cheese tokens. C C P corp is full of scrubs, application to FWA REJECTED! :P

I remember a time when when you Yoshi would go 25-4 in std gear against full proto squads! But making isk while running proto takes skill. You are skilled I can attest to that  , and I do think you are an exception to the rule. |

It's militarily grade only, not really prototype. Meant for military grade clones. At least that's how I heard IWS explain it once. Apparently they keep having problems with such things as prototype weapons tearing the arms off the civilian users, and haven't figured out a way to fix that yet. *shrugs*

Proto gear is cheap. Running it 24/7 in ambush usually means 0 deaths, all profit,
PC corps dont have this neverending isk being given to all their players like most of the scrubs think. Usually average players get 20-100mil from their corp during the entirety of the corps lifespan.
Some corps and players differ, like directors or CEOs taking out hundreds of mil for themselves.
The reason proto players can run it 24/7 is because they dont lose isk while doing so. You can then consider the other factors as well, switching to BPOs at supply depots before dieing, running scanners while playing passively, running ambush, running full proto squads, running MLT tanks, all the different ways to play smart make losing 0 proto suits over the course of multiple matches VERY easy.
Everytime i run with nyain, i usually go entire nights without dieing a single time, thats usually nets me 3-5 mil from ambushes. Im not gloating, as its easy when you run with full proto, even against squads.
But seriously, its just that its sooo easy to run proto without dieing. It was waaay easier in beta too, when a single guy with proto would dominate entire teams. Thanks to sharpshooter, weaponry, broken damage mods and broken viziams or duvolles or even krins and balacs insta melting anyone across the map.
Gallente starter fit with 3 complex armor plates has more HP than any shield suit with all complex shield extenders.

From STD to ADV you get one more slot.
From ADV to PRO you get TWO more slots.
So yeah.
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.
