It tends to happen when something is in the way of your railgun.
It blocks you from firing.

I have had that bug where randomly at random times the railgun makes the noise but it doesn't actually fire anything, it does 0 damage. Also when you go to reload it is also bugged and never actually reloads and just stays there flashing, so at the point the only thing that has ever helped me fix that bug is jump out the tank and get back in.
Even then it doesn't always work. |

I filed a trouble ticket and they said; Sorry cannot help you because ... get this ... it wasn't because of a server or client bug.
This means that CCP/Shanghai either wants this to happen or don't understand why you are upset enough to use CAPS! All because of losing a HAV when their client code (aka Dust514) fails to function as we expect it to. Silly Mercs that we are.

That bug cost me a brawl and I'm sure I looked like some idiot who couldn't find R1 during the entire fight. Was super pissed though.
