SCRAM bomb - tank can't move but still can fire - duration depends on tier ECM bomb - tanker can use only FPS camera for some time and tank scanner disapear CATERPILLAR bomb - destroy caterpillar of the tank and stop him. Can be fixed by remote repair for at least 10 seconds TARGET PAINT bomb - every hit is 2x damage. Duration 30-60 seconds depends on tier of bomb FLUX bomb - 3000 damage to every shield (vihicle, instalation, dropsuit) within splash range ACID bomb - start damaging tank with 30 damage per sconds. Duration depends on tier. Shields cannot regenerate. MINE bomb - works like remote explosives blowed by contact, but is droped by the ship. Damage depends by tier. 3000 min BARRIER bomb - make a obstacle that tank or LAV can't go trough or shoot. Last 30-60 seconds. Used for tank traps

These would only bring about Dropship514. To be honest having an assault variant is pushing it. Also your flying a PERSONEL carrier,not a vehicle specifically designed for combat. If you desire OP bombs so much wait for fighters and invest SP in them.

CCP is already building a "Bomber" per say, but the 'Bombs' you are talking about would really give DS's a new role on the battlefield! Being an ADS drop ship pilot myself, would like to see something like what you described to be implemented.

Different bombs take different PG/CPU like turrets. Actually bomb can be fitted on turret slots.
Just an idea hit me. Why not rocket launchers (like dropsuit users) cannot be fitted on the dropship. Even in red line zone tanks can be hit. Using can be same like a foot soldier - you need lock on time before shooting. |

Electronic warfare is needed, but implementing it through bombs seems silly. Why not just give dropships (And other vehicles. AND INFANTRY) mods that have eWar effects. I know I've posted about some ways it could be implemented that would be more in keeping with the existing lore. It would also function well with capacitor which, seriously, when are we getting capacitor? |

I confirm EWAR is needed. BOMBs can be perfect way for Dropships. And dropships can give tanks real resistance. At the moment killing tank with only dropship is 20:1 |

This is a Transport vehicule not an assault vehicule. But yes for smoke bomb. To cover allies that going to land. |

Sorry, but I disagree. That what you fit make vehicle transport or assault or something else. Fitting mobile CRU make it flying CRU. Fitting bombs make it bomber. Bombs shall give just an additional role and shall make game better

Would be nice but the maps are unfortunately too small for this kind of weaponry.
Also, they are looking to release Jet Fighters/Bombers for this purpose alone.

Well, if you want your tank to be anty-infantry you put rockets or blaster. If you want anty-vehicle put rail gun. The same with dropsuits - you can put anty-infantry or anty-vehicle weapons. Why not the same with dropships. Atm dropship with side missile gunner is verry effective against infantry. Not the same when talking about AV. Most of the bombs I propose are EWAR. There is a oportunities tank to evade distruction if only bomb is droped without Infantry or vehicle assist with DPS. Fitting bomb must take PG/CPU compared to turrets and defence modules, so fitting bomb shall make pilot to sacrifice turrets ot tank. I believe the idea is good |

I think this is a great idea and should be implemented immediately. The new vehicle buff gave everyboyd the excuse to drive a tank with little worry of getting killed. Dropships have always been underutilized, even now, CCP realy doesn't want people going nuts with these things, probobly because if they did then everybody would fly around all the time and no one would be on the ground. Ya see what I did there?

Not so sure about that. Even now everybody can be in tanks or dropships, but it didnt happend. Of course if that kind of things happend some regulations can be implemented - 5min interval betwin next bomb, War points gathering for using bomb like Warbarge strikes - a lot of oportunities, but I didnt think it shall happend. As I said before, that bombs are not insta killing explosives, most of them have EWAR role and if only dropped without additional support of DPS nothing shall happend and no one shall die.
Let me tell you an example. Squad of four ppl enter game. Enemy team deploy 2 tanks on the ground. They start rulling battlefield as any of us see it. Few forge guners/rocket launchers try deal with them, but active hardeners give tanks time to withdrow, reapir, calm down and get back. I call a dropship equiped with one turret and an EMP bomb and my team is equiped with AV granades. We take off and stay near to the tanks over the place I expect they shall withdrow. When that happend I trow my EMC bomb and immobilize the tank for 20 second. My 3 teammates jump and throw its AV granades on tank = tank is down. |

Again I agree with you. Dropships are an underutilized part of the game. Most importantly they're supposed to be used a stroop transport. hardly anyone does that. I think as a weaponized tactical advantage it would make the game a lot more interesting

I would love more customization for vehicles. Bombs are a nice idea, but I generally want to be able to remove that ******* cargo bay (As if it's ever used) and replace it with something useful. Maybe some kind of huge equipment that can be stored inside the DS, which is then parked somewhere. Maybe a strong scanner or something. Such a customized dropship would literally do nothing else besides scanning all the time.
Or maybe an LAV where you can replace the turret with some more cargo space to ferry three additional people. Two in front, four in back.
So, basically, vehicles need equipment slots. For dropships it would contain either a cargo bay or something else, for LAVs it would contain the gun. |

Bombs are an interesting idea. The stats you posted are way too overpowered. if a tank sits still for more than 5 seconds it risks being nuked by swarms or forge guns so some tweaking would have to be in order.
With that said. The drop ships we have fill their role effectively at the moment. STD are personnel carriers (with missiles) Assault if used right are good for infantry suppression (and killing. In my opinion Bombs don't fit the role of a dropship. Reminds me of the old zepplins with bombs. Slowly making their way over a target and releasing the payload. As others said, wait for actual bombers or fighters to be introduced.

I think I understand your considerations about the role of the dropship. Probably i shall repeat myself but let me tell you what I think.
The role of the dropship is define by what you fit on it and how you fly it. It can be mobile CRU, mobile Scanner, Infantry killer(with missiles) or Tank killer(with Rails), scout, kamikaze(yes it can be :) ). Why not carry a bomb. Yes, I understand CCP probably shall give us bombers in future, but they can carry a lot of bombs. The Dropship need only one. And take notice that bombs I propose cannot kill bomb by itself, all they need additional damage to be deal. And lot of them are mostly with anty-tank purpose.
For example - who dont want to see smoke bomb or granade, right?

This exact idea was proposed by CCP Blam!, who appears to no longer be with the company.
Look, imagine for a second an aircraft that can hover that is now equipped with massive AoE weapons, whether damage focused or not, that it can utilize by hovering at high altitude and just dropping them straight down.
Dropship514 doesn't even properly describe how broken and terribad that would be.
