I love how many people who belong to corps that lock their districts voicing their horror at this. Not so fun when you can't attack them either is it?!

I want to also say that the true responsibility lies at CCP's feet on this. This mechanic has been abused for months and months and our complaints have been unheard. At minimum just remove the ISK refund on clone packs.

Let's get the timers changed so that battles spin up within an hour of an attack. Make it an 8 hour window...you set you district to an 8 hour block...the attacker gets to chose which hour in that 8 hr block, then in 24hrs the battle happens, tada! Gives everyone a chance, or at least a better one No way, you set an 8 hour window for downtime. The other 16 hours are gametime. A battle spins up within an hour and you go to battle. This would open up Molden Heath. The super corps could still kick ass, they just wouldn't be able to hold huge chunks of land. Within 6 months or so Molden Heath would have a lot more diversity and involvment.
I was actually thinking this same thought where the attack window is a 3 hour period and the attacker gets to choose the battle time within that window.

I do not think this will speed up the process of fixing PC by any measurable amount, Kujo talked of hot fixing Ariana's glitching but changing PC mechanics is not likely to be something that can be hot fixed, and we will more than likely have to wait for PC 2.0 to come in a patch.
WRONG WRONG and more WRONG. There is one section of code that refunds ISK for clone packs. Remove it and instead fine the corps!

I'm going to use you as a sacrifice - sorry. But what???? Do you not understand the concept of saying something - and not saying something? I don't see FA or other corps posting, "DOWN WITH DISTRICT LOCKER! *Chest thump*" - It's only been RA. It's the reason everyone is now LOL in this thread. We all saw this coming - and the poor excuse associated with it. So it has nothing to do with RA locking up - who even hits them anyways? But the hypocrisy of the move after announcing almost everywhere in the war room - there intent NOT to lock up. They even have inner communications promising they would never do such things Lol
I am not fan of Renegade Allaince (Nyain San, cough cough 60 12:00 timers?!). But corps like yours have abused PC district locking for far to long and brought it to this state. At least I can see some slim chance that CCP will be forced to do something instead of letting corps like yours keep locking and attacking from behind locked districts.

I stand corrected, you are in an NPC corp. So either an alt or someone that likes an NPC corp, go figure.

Unfortunately, they've had almost eight months to sit on this and I'm almost certain the aspect of District Locking came up when they were discussing the initial design on how all of this would work. CCP moves at a glacial pace but they're not entirely stupid, they know full and well how this happens and why. Getting angry isn't going to make them move faster and having a dev (or several) sit down and do nothing but look at logs to find intentional district locking over "we attacked and simply didn't show" would be sketchy at best, let alone impractical and inefficient. That developers taken away from, I dunno, fixing the problem - or fixing something else that's actually in their department. Team True Grit are the guys that handle this sort of thing, to my knowledge and they're working on two games at once (Dust 514 and Eve Online); just as well they've been on over-time working the grind on a monthly basis ever since Uprising was released and only recently (due to holidays) has this changed. The one thing I always hear whenever I bring up PC as a balancing point is that "PC players are a minority" - well, you [the community] kept saying it over and over and now it's being viewed as such. PC is a minority. There is a list of issues with this game and they're probably not keen on fixing the things for said minority when there are higher priorities that need to be solved first. ADDENDUM: This explains why I keep getting mail from random ****-lords talking about locking districts; like it's personally my fault that we decided to do this.
Yes PC is the minority. However, it has some of the strongest supporters of Dust in it. Also the ISK farming has an enormous impact upon all of DUST. I would argue the economy is pretty much broken due to ISK generation from PC.

In the software industry when there's an issue you get back into work and fix it! They should have fixed the damn thing months ago.

Kondor Pendragon wrote:Even if your stated reason is the true reason that you'll be locking your districts, you're going about pushing change in completely the wrong way. The devs have already acknowledged issues with PC and the locking of districts and have notified that they are working on coming up with a fix for the current situation. By locking all of your districts, it's not bringing up the problem to CCP - they already know of it. What it is doing, though, is making a bad situation much worse and it could possibly destroy and cripple the game if enough people get frustrated with the situation. CCP can work as hard as they can, but it will still take some time to come up with some fixes and implement them - we're talking about changing some of the fundamentals of the most competitive part of the game. They'll work as fast as they can while doing their best to feel comfortable to produce a quality fix and implementation. So there's no reason to go trying to push a change that's already coming.
TL;DR - Nice try, but I believe you went about this in completely the wrong way. You've made a mistake that will most likely affect the game in a negative way, and no one is going to thank you for it.
I completely disagree with pretty much everything you said :)
CCP could fix this with a simple tweak easily. For some reason they refuse to and want to wait until they do a larger revamp. Hopefully this kicks them into action. Even before Renegade did this there was almost nothing to hit except them due to almost everyone else locking their districts.

I would argue the economy is pretty much broken due to ISK generation from PC. BUT AAREEESSSS!!! We need to combine the Eve/Dust economies! One universe one market, all that stuff! Yeah, trust me - I get it. We all get it. We know just as well as the next guy. The economy is ****** but, yanno... Someone bitched about how we weren't making enough money in PC to cover our losses and, well, here we are. Dunno; it's a learning process. Either way, everyone locking up their districts isn't going to prove to CCP what they already know - there's no grand overarching message being taught here. I applaud the endeavor and the reason for the action (I mean hell we all want the game to be a bit more healthy) but, yanno, I just see a bunch of people getting -more- angry than anything else. A smart man would go and look at CCP's job listings and see all the positions open for Shanghai, then realize that they're already stretched thin working to push out a build every month with racial parity, balance changes, bug fixes, new content, insertanynumberofshitpeoplehaverequestedhere. Game isn't designed for the "I want it now" bunch, it's going to take some patience and getting all riled up about things isn't going to speed up the process. I always love to use restaurants as the metaphor. Don't get pissed off at the cook because you've waited an hour and a half for your food in a crowded establishment. Throwing a temper tantrum and refusing to eat the appetizer (or, in this case, spilling the drink in defiance) isn't going to make him cook faster. EDIT: What it might do though is make a bunch of people leave - which will... technically get your food to you quicker... but lot of good it'll do if the restaurant isn't getting enough business to stay afloat
I think the real issue is that CCP does not fix the important issues (or any issues) in a reasonable time frame. Everything does not need to be perfect. You should work towards PC 2.0 but not leave PC 1.0 completely mangled affecting the entire games economy when literally a simple config on how much passive ISK is generated could be changed and clone packs could have stopped being refunded. They proved it's easy to change the values of ISK payout but for some reason they just didn't change it properly and never even finished doing what they said they were going to.
This underlying issue is especially obvious in the weapon balance. Time and time again one or two weapons are COMPLETELY insanely OP and they make us wait 2-4 builds until they fix it. These changes need to be addressed immediately since it has such a large impact on our enjoyability of the game. Think back to Laser Rifle, the Duvolle Tactical, the Flaylock fiasco, the Contact grenades, the Rail Riffle and Combat Riffle. The list is much bigger but end of day they leave it in a broken state for WAY to long.
p.s. remember the discount on Aurum Contact Grenades right near the end before they changed them?! like wtf!

I love the community's logic. Duvolle Tacticals are OP because of their damage/fire rate so it gets nerfed... Then you have the Scrambler Rifle which has a fire rate -ridiculously higher- and no-one says a word.
Actually the SR is crazy too, sorry I didn't include it in the list.
