So another Sp multiplier week and another MCC of AFKers. I was thinking on a way to not only stop AFK, but to also ensure that everyone in the battle works their tails off.
The key to the solution is at the 1:23 mark of the 2011 E3 Dust trailer where it shows the cost of the MCC at 120,000,000isk. What if the the losing mercs were billed a portion of the cost of their MCC? Say 1% of the cost, so 1,200,000isk was the bill footed by the losing team as a "you break it, you buy it" kind of punishment.
The bill would be calculated in relation to your performance in battle based on the leader board ranking at the end of the game, like so
1st - 1% (12,000isk) 2 & 3 - 2% each (24,000isk) 4, 5 & 6 - 4% each (60,000isk) 7, 8 & 9 - 7% each (84,000isk) 10-15 - 10% each (120,000isk) 16 - 12% (144,000isk)
There would be score multipliers to help of even out the noobies, vets, squads and lone wolf players:
No squad - 1.5x to WP total 2-3 man squad - 1.2x to WP total 10m+ SP - no multiplier 5-10m SP - 1.3x to WP total 0.5-5m SP - 2.0x WP total
One mechanic that would probably need to be added would be the inability to leave a match, or if someone did, their score would stay and they would incur their share of the bill once the match ended - even if they were in another battle.
Not only would this stop AFKing due to the probability of losing 120-144,000isk, but it would make players work a bit harder to win. Might also change the team chat that never gets used (for better or worse).
Maybe this solution is feasible, maybe not. Thoughts? Oversights?
A possible addition to this could be the 1,200,000 as a bonus to the winning team based on performance with the 10% payout reversed to what is listed above.
This bill/reward would be in addition the normal ISK contract payout for battles. |

Dunk Mujunk wrote:I highly doubt fielding corp bought/owned mccs would apply to anything other than pc. And what if it was your very first battle out of the academy? You want to charge a rookie a million bucks when they probably have under a million?
Where did the million come from? Highest bill would be 144,000isk... And they would still get their normal isk payout.
As an aside. Everyone should be in academy until they hit around 20,000WP |

LowerThan SnakeShip wrote:there is way to many holes in this. i think the solution would just be all public matches just have no team red line as well no mcc visible just have a drop pod type CRU with 50 clones. give each team three that would drop in on an area and give it a shield bubble till it runs out of clones that way if your team keeps getting proto stompted there would be no redline camp or redline snipers just a safe shielded area with exit only properties. I would be interested in what you state these holes are. No redline is asking for a vehicle rush to begin the match. Does not sound like fun. |

Game modes
Player market
Thread ends.
"Forced to DO pubs". "Do" being the standout word there and not "play". Why should you be rewarded with ISK if you are not actively participating and playing the game? Why would you not play if you have other members of your corp in the same match?
Dust needs pub matches where everyone puts in effort to win, not half the team sitting idle. Not everyone can wait around to maybe get into a FW match, especially if playing alone.
Game modes? Do you mean more pubs or PVE? If so, when? More than happy for PVE to come along but considering how long it took to add a game mode previously....
Player market? Still waiting.... |

Whoever came last would actually go ISK negative, even were he using only blueprinted gear.
You'd just see more people move to ambush. It is not difficult to earn 150,000isk in a Skirmish or Dom, hell you'd get close to that if you did nothing in battle |

Michael Arck wrote:I don't know. Interesting idea but the fact that the losers got to pay something is a little daunting when you consider those in match who fought their hardest to win, excluding the AFKers. We already have FW that doesn't pay ISK and now you go to pub matches and you have the possibility to lose actual ISK.
The AFK situation is a tough one to crack. Maybe just another game mode for lower SP players would help ease the AFK. But that's assuming that lower SP players are the main ones AFKing and that I don't know. Difference is in FW, you get no ISK whether you win or lose. Pubs you get isk regardless of whether you even compete. I would think that the possibility of getting a "large" bill at the end of a battle would be incentive enough to a) work harder to increase your performance which would both decrease your bill and increase your isk payout and b) eliminate those who AFK as they would be hit with a bill that would either match or slightly outweigh their payout, thus making AFKing a waste of time
The knock on effect of this would be more competitive matches. |
