"Players" or "PCs" Because that's what players are known for - sociopathic murderhobos with an attitude of extreme metagaming. And what is better metagaming than being immortal? An alternative possibility would be murderhobo. Mercs are so homeless that they don't even keep their bodies.
Technically, we could also be called "spirit warriors". Because that's what we are - Intangible spirits that inhabit host bodies. The term would be too dignified, though. In the same vein, there would be stuff like "gods of death". But that is easily approaching weeaboo territory. "Poltergeist" might be funny.
A less dignified term might be "bodysnatchers". We technically don't steal our cloned bodies, but I could imagine a common person to use that term because they hate us. I would even imagine business partners to use that, because we don't really care about such trivial things.
It would also depend on perspective. How would capsuleers call us? Meatbags? We are using similar tech, but they control huge starships with it while we control living bodies.
Edit: I have a general fluff question. What are mercs earning their ISK for? Are they earning ISK because they simply love to fight and need all the nice equipment? Are they earning ISK for some functional purpose? What kind of purpose would require millions or billions of ISK? Isn't even a few thousand enough to settle for a lifetime? Can mercs even settle down? Can they just inhabit a body for the rest of their life and die a natural death? |

Thumpers It plays on "dustbunnies" as well as the fact that we thump the ground when we spawn and the fact that we pound enemies into oblivion.
A name based on FPS games would be funny. It would be recursive fluff, but it makes sense - In-universe, people would have experience with FPS games where people can respawn. Maybe we are called Doomguys or something. |

/me grabs a notepad and a bowl of popcorn So how exactly does the consciousness transfer process work, anyway? Is there some centralized system that buffers the consciousness after death? Or does the consciousness instantly enter another body? The former seems to be implied by the map screen and spawn selection you get after death. |

Vitruvians Humans that have surpassed the limitations of their original flawed bodies. Then again, the term might be more appropriate for people that *don't* bodyhop. Our bodies full of cybernetics and steroids aren't exactly physiological perfection |

probably 5 years from now Eve CEO's will be threatening others that they will be sending suits to their planet. "Suits" evokes an image of dudes sitting around in their corporate offices, playing golf and deciding which people will starve over the winter. Or maybe MIBs, if you are really stretching it. It really doesn't suit the physical nature of us and also falls into the same issue as the "merc" term, which is simply too broad. |

Iso (shorthand for Immortal Soldier)
Hostile Iso's have taken the communication relay we need that comm tower back to signal for reinforcements. ISO also refers to standardization.
So we are ISO standard soldiers? Doesn't that kinda run counter to the idea of customized equipment and a skill tree?
Then again .iso could mean that we are just copies of something. |

So there's sixteen completely still dudes sitting around the table, with their armor locking their bodies while their consciousness is on the ground? And then they suddenly flinch whenever their clone dies, their armor unlocks, they choose their spawn point and loadout and the armor re-locks and their consciousness goes back to the ground? That's actually a nice mental image. |
