There it is...finally a day off! Your laundry is done, the dishes are done...your girlfriend is busy at college doing homework and dance it off and yoga and you have no plans for the day. You are going to play Dust 514 for the first time! Your buddy told you the game is the very best FPS on the market and ITS FREE!
So you power up your console and you download it and you log in. You make a character...you enter the merc quarters and there are so many things to look at. There are leaderboards, the market, dropsuit fitting, a small game station where you can play some mini games and a door leading out....what's down the rabbit hole?
You walk out the door, and you're transported to a social hub where you see lots of other players sitting, talking, playing mini games and having fun. You are looking at a Mass Effect Citadelesque experience and you think hey....this is actually pretty cool. You can even bet on some things! LOOK! OMG! There is a galactic horse track and a casino with slots where you can bet isk, win isk, lose isk and more!
But you didn't come here to gamble or bet on horses...you came here to be a stone cold kilaaaaaaah. So you're headed back to your merc quarters, you're loading up into the academy and you're on the way!
Enter the battle academy and you're right in the midst of it....where you will stay until you hit FIVE MILLION SKILL POINTS. You get to fight, you get to learn, you get to grow and have fun. When you return to the merc quarters, bruised and battered but with some experience under your belt...you explore the skill tree and all options and you go again! and again, and again and again and again....
and the game....oh man the game is good. The weapons are balanced and feel right. The vehicles are balanced and they are formidable and pose a serious threat, but not impossible to defeat. There are also not 4 tanks and an assault dropship on the field on one side. They also do not move faster than the LAV's and they cannot jump mountain tops.
There is PvE which is cool to practice with and there is an infantry only mode divided in tiers by gear so lets say you have built up your advanced gear, but don't want to spend the ISK. You can jump back to standard gear or militia gear (minus the 70,000mph tanks with triple hardeners that camp you at every spawn point on the map by huge sissies who beat their meat whistles on the "iWin" button) and just have some fun with your corp mates.
The game is hard....but not too hard because everyone you're in ranks with is the same as you...new players that are brand new or veteran players on new accounts taking a different path. The point is...everyone is on the same level playing field. You hear the stories of the veteran players but they are in the upper tiers and you know one day you'll get there.
So you play for a few hours, you are really impressed with this game and you tell your buddies hey man you were right dude this game is freaking suhweeeeeet.
Don't you want to play that game? I sure do. I know CCP can make it happen...I have faith in them that they'll get it right. Sure....1.7 was A HUGE EFFING DISASTER and they are adding CLOAKS which no one asked for......BUT 1.8 is on the way. 1.9 follows, 2.0, 2.5 by the end of the year? 3.0 by the end of the year?
Who knows what's on the horizon....most of the people are just mad its not right now. Investments work the same way....make an investment, wait for it to mature. I'm willing to take the good with the bad and make an investment in Dust 514 for the good, the bad and the ugly (SUPER TANKS ARE SUPER UGLY)
So yeah...come along with me on a magical journey to have faith in the developers at CCP and Dust 514 because while BATTLEFIELD 4 is an incredibly balanced and overall fantastic game.....its no Dust 514 and I just really like Dust 514
(p.s....how many of you will I see in Destiny?) |

And how BF4 is a fantastic game is crap, so fatal crash after matches is cool?. Everything that EA is doing this last time is crap.

You think that everything must be like you want and all is unfair? the answer is simple as Deal with it or GTFO.

I was with you until you bitched about cloaks and 1.7. 1.7. was not a disaster. HAVs are incredibly overpowered currently, but the patch itself was a good step in the right direction.
You also forgot a character creation that actually makes sense. Maybe one day, race will have some kind of impact (I don't think bloodline ever will). And your Academy idea just means that veterans make new characters for stomping when they are bored, even though I agree that there needs to be more Academy time. I guess the idea of fragmenting the playerbase via game modes is okay, as your entire concept is based on a fixed game with a healthy playerbase.
P.S. I don't know anything about Destiny, except that it's done by the Halo makers. And I found Halo gameplay to be incredibly bland. If I ever buy a multiplayer FPS at full price, I'll do Titanfall. That one actually has an awesome concept. I wish this game could have some of the fast-paced fun that Crysis 3 had. It was like playing the perfect hybrid of old-school twitch shooters and modern tactical FPS. |

skimmed the sht out of your post, all I gotta say... I don't think we'll be here by years end, will CCP have shut down the poor thing as it was just the shadow of all the frivolous promises they kept making and moved on to valkyrie?? I dunno
I'm just glad I have The Walking Dead the game Season 2, MGSV, Dark Souls 2 to look forward to. Can you imagine how sad it would be if this broke excuse of a game was what I dreamed about or how miserably hopeless it would be that I looked forward to their LOOONG overdue PVE, Full Racial Catalogue including vehicles + Fighter Jets?? |

I'm looking forward to Destiny. Exploration, role playing goodness, epic story and what have you. I imagine it'll be something like borderlands meets starship troopers. Fun!

Ah ha, ah ha, ah....no.
Battlefield 4 is epic. I've been playing it for the last week and haven't had ONE problem with it. NOT ONE. Everything is fair, balanced and works fantastic. I don't know what your deal is...maybe your PS3 is jacked up and old or your internet sucks bro...hard times, sad day.
I'm not one to give EA credit for ANYTHING. They're by far the worst gaming company and one of the worst companies period but Battlefield 4 is that company's swan song, sonny jim. |

Yes I do want to play that game. I'd also like to enjoy EVE more. That's why I support CCP being bought out by Sony or someone who knows how to make that game within a year's time from now.
CCP ain't it.

Man...I think CCP and DICE should get together and hash out Dust 514.
They would balance each other out. |

I would prefer Crytek. That company actually knows how to make a game feel like real sci-fi and giving every single player a sense of power. And their multiplayer level design is actually decent, in contrast to their singleplayer variants. Also, their game modes are rather creative. (Crysis 3 had a mode where one permanently cloaked player hunts an entire team of players who don't have nanosuits. Every killed guy would transform into another hunter. The hunters win by killing everyone, the humans by surviving until the timer runs out) Three areas where CCP would need some help.
Though three companies working together would be a hilarious clusterfuck. |

You are right lol it would be but imagine if a dream team came together....the best 5-10 guys from 343 Industries, Bungie, Bioware, Crytek, CCP, DICE, Bethesda and Gearbox Software all showed up and said LETS DO THIS.
The MMOFPS that would result from that would be LEEEEGGGEEEENNNDDDDAAAARRRRYYYY. |

That could have the potential to be the BEAST mother of all games!
Gearbox`s weapons system (Litterally millions of variants that all feel different) Cryteks graphics CCPs - I.P and creativity DICE - for multiplayer scalability Bethesda for the PVE side....
Actually any combination of any of the elements COULD be very impressive. One day , possibly in my lifetime a game like this will be made. Maybe another decade or two and it could happen.
The scale of EVE online yet every last battlefield with the detail and scope of a modern day shooter. |

Don't forget about PVE (Bioware did it best with Mass Effect 3's online multiplayer component imo) and hell yeah that game would be a beast....it would be the best selling game of all time. Literally boys 3 years old to 93 years old would be on that game lol idk why these companies don't do that....I'd do that.
Come on, lets me and you crack the lottery, start our own gaming company, recruit all the best guys from all the best developers and build the don mega of all games lol |

The scale of EVE online yet every last battlefield with the detail and scope of a modern day shooter. How about this: - CCP -> IP and setting, as well as economics and retaining EVE style (It should be recognizable as a game in New Eden) - Crytek -> Graphics and fluff/gameplay integration (Crysis 3 multiplayer was very good at making the "you are all demigods in power armor" concept totally believable and made movement feel like a real joy) - DICE for multiplayer on the technical side and NPE, as well as player retention - Bungie for vehicle physics (And nothing else, really. The warthog was literally the only thing I enjoyed about Halo) - The guys who are doing Star Citizen for merging EVE and Dust - An assorted board of on-off members of various companies for ideas.
But which company would be best at balance?
Anyway, I feel like gaming has become so complex that this idea isn't as far-fetched as it may seem. You would just have to get *very* good organisation going. And the legal side would likely be a nightmare. |

I agree with what you said for sure...but as ANON Cerberus said, Gearbox for the weapons systems. Bethesda for PVE and as I originally stated when listing companies, DEFINITELY Bioware.
They botched the story ending of Mass Effect 3 for sure, but the balance of the game would be best in theirs or DICE's hands I think. CCP could benefit greatly from recruiting a dream team and you are right about the legal side.
I think CCP are all very talented game designers and programmers....but they need help. I believe in CCP and I believe in Dust 514 but I also believe it needs to be light years better than it is.
I mean in its current state it feels like a late 90's early 2000's online MP game....basic and to the point but a huge effing mess. I believe a game like we're discussing would be the best selling game of all time and everyone would be able to get a piece of the pie....plus if they all allocated a dedicated server or three for the MP and put in ways to oppose cheaters as well as modded controller users, it would be a dream come true.
Imagine that....a perfectly level battlefield where your choices and your skills are the only thing that determine how well you do. Everyone has the same chance, the same potential but without cheap gameplay mechanics, exploits, loopholes, wonky ass tanks and dropships and the million other nerf/buff problems.
One day......one day. |
