why are there still skill that do nothing? skills like dropsuit command 4 and 5, no one needs higher than level 3 on this skill and it only unlocks equipment with no passive bonuses. or skills like dropsuit upgrades 5 it has no purpose at all? why? |

They can be considered SP sinks, or possible 'placeholders' for bonuses at a later stage.
The tree is based off EVE Online, which has multiple tier Skills to train up to attain next.
In EVE, there are passive bonuses attached most to, if not all, of these skills. However, with the balance issues already rampant in DUST, adding more passive Skills may well unbalance the system yet again just as we are coming close to a balance of sorts.
It is getting there.
Once you go Black, you just never go back!

Good point.
I think CCP will change this when releasing the new armors...

Maybe in the far future we'll have specialized suits or maybe when the MTACs come in they'll require level 5 they are kinda like suits just... Really big suits lol. Who knows I like to stay positive about the possibilities.
