I just faced a whole squad of'em.. Could unload an entire clip on them with the rifle barrel up to their chest and do Nothing to them, not a single bit of damage at all! I might not have noticed except that they were flaunting it and not even shooting back unless you went to capture something, so I walked among them, tried everything I had on hand, even the butt of a rifle, no good. The ONLY thing I saw take one of them down was a direct hit from a friendly tank, and even that might've just been a random opposing player who wasn't cheating. I have a very old and crap TV (we're talking CRT type here) and not even S-Video is clean enough for me to read names in most games, so if ANYONE else faces this, PLEASE submit tickets with names! This has GOT to stop! I've submitted my own for what little it's worth, but I thought I'd go ahead and make a little public noise here too in hopes we'll get the eyes of Dust out there looking for them! I Suck at shooters, but it's no fun to lose when there is NO way to win for an honest player!
Devs and GM's? Please let there be a way to track and find these people and their exploit, and get it the HELL out of the game forever! Dust won't be any fun anyone if everyone figures this out and we have battles with nothing but a bunch of immortals on the field stare'n at eachother |

ZERO LAG in the match, and more important, THEY WERE NOT RETURNING FIRE EVER, unless I tried to hack something then they'd kill me instantly.. They weren't moving out of lines of fire, they'd be there long before and after I'd sent shots at POINT BLANK RANGE. They were invincible, they knew it, and were flaunting it |

As stated in original post, I more or less can't take names for any reason ever, I'm playing on a very old NON-HD / NON SD Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) type television, the name font is so small as to be little more then a smudged line even when using S-video inputs. I did at least ticket the problem for what it's worth, but I hope to see many more players keeping an eye out for this. it's Easy to spot, just try to kill them, nothing will work, and they'll stand around and LET you try, they did NOT return fire, ever, for five minutes or more.. So it's not lag because the instant I'd make a move to hack something the group of cheaters would instantly kill me, otherwise they were saving their ammo because anyone on foot was no threat to them at all! |

you'd think though, even starter gear would make a freaking DENT in that 6k if I could fully unload multiple clips on them (easy to do when they don't even try to shoot you back) and it wasn't, Ever! their shield/armor gauges never moved
the squad in question was guarding one Longcannon site inside a building, I spent a good half the match IN that building With them, in starter gear, and they never made a move to kill me, ever.. doesn't that stand out as ODD to anyone? Lag is one thing but they were not even pulling the trigger on me.. they dropped others on my side who tried to take the cannon without any trouble at all. But I wasn't trying to take the cannon, I was trying to find out why the HELL this noob here wasn't dead on the floor 20 times over! It became pretty obvious pretty quickly |

Then why did they let me stand around near their long-cannon, and not even try to fire back? WHY DIDN'T THEY SHOOT BACK? Unless you know, I so much as touch it, then, and ONLY then would you become a bleeding pile on the floor.. watched one guy on my side end up that way, I died once trying it, came back, and just hung out with them inside their little building with about 5 of them, for minutes on end, and they never made a move to kill me so long as I kept my hands to myself (I could shoot at them all I wanted though, saw plenty of clean hits, and never made a scratch). This behavior was FREAKISHLY ODD too me, they had minutes upon minutes to kill me, and only did so the one time I tried to capture the cannon. The rest of the time their guns were silent. Is that normal for lagging players? or players of ANY kind for that matter? There's only one explanation that makes sense to me: they were saving ammo for players trying to capture the cannon because they were going to be alive doing it for the entire match, thanks to their invincibility. |

Many of you are still missing one key point: THEY CHOSE NOT TO FIRE on anyone not taking a long-cannon away from them! Lag, Hit detection, and other glitches don't really explain why they would not fire AT ALL on ANY opponent, until that opponent threatened their chances of winning the match directly. The chances that we Might shoot at them, that we Might hit them, DID NOT constitute a threat to them and their behavior reflected that, and it wasn't just me they'd hold fire on. The range we're talking about is between 0-20 feet most of the time because it was a very small building we were clustered inside of, so it's not even remotely like either party should have had much chance of missing. In the clearest instance of it, I blocked a doorway, and while one was stuck in front of me I unloaded the better part of a clip from a starter assault riffle with the barrel of the gun basically On his chest plate, and neither HP indicator moved a single pixel. But make that long-cannon indicator blink and I'd be instantly mowed down from three directions! That tells me that no, I wasn't lagged/glitched with a body actually somewhere else on the map, and they weren't either. I was right there, really taking the long-cannon, and that's right where I died.
For the record, it was Tranquility server, Skirmish (I'm not in a corp yet so these were the public matches) and about 2-3am PST, I think on the morning of the 27th. If it helps, it was the last match I played, I haven't been in a match since.
This isn't my first rodeo, I've seen multi-second long lag before, rubber-banding and the like. I've seen missed hits because of such lag in games.. This was not the case, all characters were moving smoothly and very apparently in full control of their bodies at all times. I spent 5 minutes in literal SPITTING distance of these guys, getting physically in their way, making lots of noise with my guns, and generally being as annoying a prat as I could be, and they did NOTHING about me... Almost like Borg Drones in Star Trek. But so much as Touch something really important, and my body was hitting the floor before I could snap my fingers! I refuse to believe lag was involved in their extremely odd behavior |

Ghermard-ol Dizeriois wrote:If you can't remember their names and/or their Corporation, then we can only takeyour words as a general "warning" since no further investigations can be conducted upon. Next time, press upper arrow on your DS3 and check who are these players, then write their name/corp somewhere; I won't ask you to take a screenshot (with your camera or smartphone) if your TV is old and it's a CRT.
If that gets me a better display of the names I just might owe you some huge thanks for that tip, should I ever run into this again. I have a feeling I might too, since it seemed to be an active and organized squad of about 4-5 players doing this. That tells me this possible 'exploit' has already been shared, and soon the world will know how it works.
It also strikes me that they chose a building with a solid roof and good hiding places, since I saw a tank blast someone who might've been a part of it, and that Did wipe that clone out. It would seem really high explosive hits might still be an issue for them, so by cowering inside a little building, tanks would have a hell of a time reaching them, and orbital strikes would be simply out of the question. Red players in open areas didn't seem to be a part of it, I could hurt them.. There was a detectable tactic to this, a method to their madness. They were using it to win and they knew exactly how! |

RED FARM wrote:Sounds like someone is getting trolled. At the end of the match there is a big ol list of player names and their corp. Anyone would remember the 6 names of of one corp.
I didn't stay to the end of the match, there really wasn't any point. We were a little behind in MCC health, the hackers had that one cannon locked down completely, and the rest of the players on their side were doing a good enough job of holding down the other LC they owned. Since there were only 4 LC's in the match, that would keep the MCC damage rates tied, meaning we were certain to lose. To me the points for a loss weren't worth playing for another minute with a bunch of disgusting hackers. Just keep thinking it's trolling, and pray you never meet them in game.
Also, Not all of them on the other side were cheating, some could be hurt. To report the entire other side would've pointed fingers at some innocent players. It was only the 4 or 5 cowering in one building that were doing it. If I see it again I'll try more weapon types, but I'm very new to this game so I don't have access to much yet, and I still have a lot of doubts about what, if anything, can still hurt them through their exploit
And lastly? that big'ol list of players wouldn't have helped much if all I saw of their names were a bunch of smudged lines. Anyone here ever play these HD-era games on an old 20-inch CRT? The name fonts in most games now, indeed most fonts for most text, are about as readable on that setup as a shopping list that's gone through the wash in your pants pocket, I just gave up. |
