Greetings Mercenaries,
I have been a Mercenary for quite some time from closed beta to public beta. I have seen this for a very long time and it has puzzled me. The active scanner, it can be used from a mile away to scan and show enemy locations on the radar. I think this is fine and all but my main issue with it, is that it can be used by campers far away and it is as if you're always scanned. Every match I play, that message is up on the screen 80% of the time. I know you can reduce this by using the profile dampener skill attribute I believe (correct me if I'm wrong). My preference on the matter is if you can only be scanned if the enemy, while pointing the active scanner, crosses over you so that you are picked up by the scanner. In other words, the enemy should have to point the gun physically on you in order to scan your whereabouts. I have watched youtube videos where players would stand behind a wall, or object, and do a 360 degrees spin with the scanner out and that's how he scans his enemies. Don't you Mercs think that's a bit unfair? Feel free to share your opinion  .

They're being nerfed in the next update, check it out and other changes in the feedback section. |

Please read about the upcoming fix to scanners.

Long story short, scans are going to be near instant now, so 360 scanning will be impossible (unless you have a bunch of people waddling around in a circle with scanners).

The 360 scan thing is being fixed for 1.8 - there's a sticky in features and requests with more details about the changes to scanners and other equipment. |

The furthest one can reach 200 meters. Most only reach as far as 100, that's really not that far. |
