Should it be that we can only use gear specific to the faction we are fighting for?

Theres no right or wrong answer. I personally think it'd be great come 1.8 provided we are 100% getting the rest of the light and heavy suits.

We are mercenaries who buy own gear, not national soldiers supplied by our governments. It would not make sense why these factions would care what we use as long as we get the job done. Furthermore, this idea would alienate a lot of people from faction warfare, myself included.
EDIT Also:
We have no Minmatar and Amarr racial vehicles
We have no Amarr grenades (Gallente have flux, Caldari have AV, Minmatar have locus)
Gallente and Amarr only each have one equipment (Gallente = active scanner, Amarr = drop uplink) so their logis would be pointless. All logis would be pretty limited in their selection of gear.
No racial heavy weapons are coming in 1.8, so the Amarr and Gallente heavy would be stuck with having to use light weapons.
This would be bad.

I'd have to say no. For the simple reason that player trading is needed to make it possible to run a profit in FW (by selling faction items), and reducing the number of players able to use the gear effectively will affect the market. |

As an Event when parity is achieved = Awesome
Dropsuits = one set of rewards
Weapons = one set of rewards
As an all the time thing, I don't think it would work all that well.
